La Taverne Médiévale sur Gueberschwihr

We aren't regular customers, but we've been coming for years (over 15). So, as always, we appreciated the food, which is plentiful and flavorful. It's local, it's good. But this time, we really had to make an effort to enjoy our meals. We had reserved a table and were offered a seat on the terrace. When we arrived, we were seated inside. We didn't say anything. Our table was right next to another one. So close, in fact, that the gentleman behind me kept leaning back, and his hair was touching mine. Poor guy, it wasn't his fault, but I spent the evening pressed against the table and leaning forward to avoid that happening again... On top of that, there were several hiccups with the service, with staff who weren't always up to scratch. So, it's still as good as ever, but the service somewhat spoiled the experience.

We had a great time; the food was excellent and the service was top-notch. However, the portions weren't huge, and a little sauce with the cordon bleu would have been nice to make it perfect, but other than that, it was delicious. You posted your comment about the desserts in the wrong section 😅

A wonderful discovery! This restaurant is typical of Alsace, with a beautiful setting, excellent cuisine, and impeccable service. I highly recommend it.

A restaurant that charges you for desserts served by mistake and eaten, yet has the nerve to deliver desserts in the flavors we requested but refused; yet still charges you for all four desserts, an extra 15 euros on top of our order! Bravo for your business acumen! You can feel the pressure on the waitresses and the owner's less-than-subtle comments to her employees.

The place is lovely, no doubt about that… the only downside is the owner… who isn't friendly at all and takes orders poorly on top of that… resulting in several forgotten items (side dishes, extra sauce). Luckily, the two waitresses were very pleasant… nevertheless, a few oversights as well (coffees requested several times… so it took a while…). Well, it's not a big deal, but it's a bit of a letdown in such a lovely setting. The food: I ordered the cordon bleu… frankly, I was very disappointed, not very substantial and it was tiny! The accompanying vegetables, however, were delicious. The dessert (feuille à feuille) was delicious, a kind of lemon mille-feuille with a scoop of lemon sorbet on the side. In the end, a bit pricey for what it is!
