La Vieille Auberge sur Saint-Jean-De-Luz

Very good, we had the set menu with local charcuterie, veal axoa and sheep's cheese for dessert, we were very well received and the service was quick, a good place that I recommend!

The dishes on the menu were good, the chocolate cake less so. The egg wasn't runny. The portions were a bit small. The dining room was cold. The servers were very pleasant and the decor was nice. No aperitif or coffee was offered.

Overall, the restaurant was quite good. The portions were reasonable, but not huge for a €25.90 menu. Negative point: Unfortunately, we ordered white wine with our meal, but it only arrived at the end, despite our requests as soon as the main course arrived. It's a real shame, as it completely ruined the experience. 😅 The service was rather slow, and the waiter was unfriendly, asking us to clear our own plates. So, a mixed experience.

We had a wonderful time as a family, enjoying quality food at a good price. Despite our late arrival, they were responsive and welcoming.

We had reserved two tables for 9 pm, and both sides of the restaurant were packed. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our order was taken promptly. The only slight drawback was the wait between ordering and being served (about 30 minutes), but given the number of people and the intensity of the service, exemplified by one of the waiters who was running around and occasionally swearing, it was understandable. This didn't prevent the courses from arriving smoothly once we were served. We were on a tight schedule, and when we mentioned it to the head waitress, she made sure our desserts arrived immediately (thank you again!). We were very pleased with the food and didn't notice any pests as mentioned in another review. We had a fantastic meal, with a special mention for the duck breast with mango chutney and the koka for dessert!

You kindly agreed to serve us two pizzas at the end of your shift, and you were very welcoming! The pizzas were delicious! Excellent!

We got good and friendly service on a Monday evening. Had aperitifs followed by simple red wine together with the 25,90€ 3 course menu. Tried the local beer on draft which was great. The pork was unfortunatley undercooked, so the kitchen needed 10 extra minutes to warm it up and finalze the cooking. Servings are smaller compared to ordering regular Plats from a la carte, but we got enough dessert to fill up the bellies.

We enjoyed delicious Basque dishes and were served attentively despite the crowds. A very pleasant dinner in one of the lively streets of this magnificent city

We come to Saint-Jean-de-Luz every year and each time we eat at La Vieille Auberge, a fantastic place with a very friendly owner and staff. Don't hesitate to try their Galician-style octopus; the cooking is perfect.
