La Vieille Fontaine sur Avignon

Wonderful atmospheric old hotel. Full of charm. Very good quality bedding, linen. Many fine antique furniture pieces and ornaments. Delightful enclosed square.

Nice city hotel in the middle of Avignon. Quietly located, not far from the well-known bridge and in just a few minutes' walk you are right in the center, with a considerable selection of various restaurants. We experienced extremely friendly and courteous service. We booked a normal double room. Except for the size of the bed, everything was perfect. Everything is furnished in the typical French style, this hotel is very authentic. We felt very comfortable. A big plus point is the valet service for cars, which are parked in a nearby underground car park. Highly recommended if you are not looking for a modern hotel but rather an authentic French hotel.

What a lovely place dating back several hundred years. We found the room spacious (by any country’s standards) and very clean. Breakfast was always a delight with excellent hit and cold choices and good service. The staff was very helpful and pleasant, whether we needed assistance with booking a rental car, requesting dinner reservations, or just asking their opinion about what parts of Provence to explore. When our room was a little warm, they sent up a fan right away (too early in the spring season to start up air conditioning). We spent many hours having lunch or evening drinks in the sunny garden courtyard. We were close to everything from this excellent location. Yes, there are some noisy late-night people at times if you sleep with windows open and have a courtyard-facing room, but the closed windows block almost all noise and our earplugs gave us perfect sleep. A great experience in Avignon.

Je voudrais juste savoir pourquoi le personnel hôtelier traîne dans la rue avant midi, en particulier devant le restaurant Palais du Maharajah situé à l'arrière, fumant des clopes, assis à même le sol... Le propriétaire de ce restaurant n'ayant jamais osé le leur reprocher, affiche un bon sourire affable lorsqu'on lui demande pourquoi, et vous dit que '' ce n'est pas grave '' . Ce n'est pas grave, pour sûr, sauf pour l'image de l'hôtel qui donne l'impression de n'avoir pas d'espace où mettre à l'aise son propre personnel et fait louper certains clients au restaurant : c'est à peine si l'on peut franchir l'entrée avec cette bande de trainaillars si ''distingués'' ! Quant à l'hôtel, ayant vu cela plusieurs fois, je n'ai même plus envie d'y mettre les pieds !

Un endroit sympa, personnel très gentil, cadre classique chic. J'aime y prendre un verre au salon du bar où en terrasse l'été.

J'ai passé 20 ans de ma vie, en face de ce bel hôtel. Mon mari était le directeur du festival d'Avignon. Notre appartement de fonction se trouvait place Crillon. Des dîners merveilleux entre amis et artistes. Le ciel étoilé, le bonheur. Le directeur de cet établissement était extrêmement gentil et cultivé. Y retourner, c'est revivre les rêves de ces étés bénis. Vous ne pouvez pas être déçus.
