L'Aquarium sur Leucate

We came to enjoy half a dozen oysters as a family. A very warm welcome, oysters of exceptional quality, and for those who don't like oysters, there are mussels and shrimp. You can also buy and take away. Perfect, and we'll definitely be back! 😉 And thank you for the carafe of fresh water.

It's an exceptional place, the oysters are delicious.

We could say that the quality of the oysters is similar at all the stalls. I did witness how here the young man shucking them in front of you would discard some if they weren't the right size or for some other reason. The signs advertised oysters prepared "Mari era," grilled, etc., which other stalls didn't; everything was raw. One difference that I find very appealing is that the tables are large and the plates fit comfortably, while at other stalls you have to put the bottles or other containers on the floor if you order a lot. Also, the presentation is much better, with ice around the oysters. Specifically at Más Bleu, the plate is full of water, without ice. I recommend Acquarium.

Good, but there are better options around.

I've been coming to the oyster-farming village of Leucate for years. I usually go by the crowds and especially the decor; this time, I went in for the second option on the Aquarium menu, a great deal for me: nine "medium-sized" oysters and a glass of wine, all for 13 euros. The manager gave me a warm and friendly welcome. The oysters were absolutely delicious! Plump, briny, and flavorful, I thoroughly enjoyed them! Special mention to the person who shucked them: she was perfect! This is where I'll be back.

We're regulars at the fishing village where the atmosphere is always so welcoming. Today, we wanted to check out the aquarium. We were disappointed, not by the quality of the oysters, which were excellent, but by the welcome, which was sorely lacking in friendliness and warmth. What a shame!
