L'asperule sur Auxerre

We had an absolutely amazing evening. What Chef Hidetachi Kurita and his wife (the only staff) conjure up and present is simply fantastic! The dishes and the sequence of the Japanese-European fusion menu (only €46, which usually costs at least twice as much for this quality) and the preparation were simply original, extremely refined, and precise. My highlights were the perfectly cooked (onsen) egg with mushroom espuma and the Andalusian-style octopus with a mashed potato crown. Every dish was a revelation, both in terms of taste and presentation. His wife, who runs the front of house, manages everything with absolute friendliness, courtesy, attentiveness, and professionalism. A fantastic experience that we highly recommend to all gourmets. In our opinion, this restaurant deserves a Michelin star and around 16 Gault Millau points. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Auxerre. Thank you again for the wonderful hospitality and the excellent food! Definitely go – but make a reservation beforehand!

A delicious tasting menu that flowed beautifully, featuring a Japanese-inspired dish made with excellent local ingredients. A truly wonderful dining experience. A fusion of Japanese and French cuisine. A combination I've never tasted before. Each dish was unique, and I enjoyed it from start to finish. How did they bring out the flavor of the corn like that? I was surprised, and it was delicious. The wine prices were also reasonable, and the level of satisfaction for this price is something you can only find in a regional area. The staff and chef were also wonderful people.

Genuinely one of the best meals we had all year. The menu at 46 euros punches well above its price point and every dish showed real care and intention. What also stood out was how naturally and correctly they handled a lactose intolerance, no fuss, no mistakes, just done properly from start to finish. That kind of attention is rarer than it should be. A brilliant address in Auxerre that deserves far more attention than it gets.
