L'Auberge Provençal sur Mons

Delicious food, friendly service, and a beautiful view! Highly recommended!

This time, my family and I visited our in-laws in the south of France, and they took us to this hilltop restaurant. I always thought Provence was just lavender fields, sunshine, and the sea, but after arriving in Mons, I discovered there was such a thing as Provence nestled in the mountains. What attracted me most to the restaurant wasn't just the food. Sitting on the terrace, I had a vast forest in front of me, with the distant mountains fading into the distance. Before coming, we had visited the village, seeing the school, church, and experiencing the local life, so sitting down for lunch felt less like a tourist attraction and more like sitting in an old mountain village where people still live. The food was traditional southern French cuisine, not deliberately luxurious, which suited the ambiance perfectly. Sunshine, mountain breeze, local wine, and a leisurely lunch—that was one of my favorite afternoons in Provence. I came to southern France with my family to visit relatives who live nearby, and they brought us to this mountaintop restaurant. I had always imagined Provence as lavender fields, sunshine and the Mediterranean coast, but Mons showed me another side of Provence — quiet, mountainous and full of local life. What I enjoyed most about the restaurant was not only the food. From the terrace, you look out over forests and layers of mountains fading into the distance. Before lunch, we had walked through the village and seen the local school, church and everyday village life, so sitting down here felt less like visiting a tourist attraction and more like spending time in a real old village that is still very much alive. The food is traditional southern French cuisine, simple and local rather than flashy, which suits the setting perfectly. Sunshine, mountain air, local wine and a slow lunch with this view made it a very memorable Provence afternoon.

A very warm welcome. Everything was delicious. The fig tart was excellent. I recommend it. I'll be back.

We went there for the view and lunch. Unfortunately, after 2:00 PM, there was only a choice of 2 dishes: something with salmon and something with pâté. So we opted for coffee and cake instead. That was very tasty, and the view was beautiful too.

We arrived without a reservation. The owner gave us a cold welcome and barely cracked a smile despite the crowd. It was the only place open today, but you really have to be motivated to work. Poor France! On the other hand, the food was lovely, fresh, and the waitress was smiling and friendly.

Passing through this magnificent village, we took a relaxing break at the Auberge Provençale. The view is breathtaking, and a soothing calm reigns there. Highly recommended!

Fantastic place! We had a wonderful meal. The ingredients were high quality, the dishes delicious, generous, and hearty. Everything was excellent from start to finish 😍 A truly great find that I highly recommend! We'll definitely be back 😊
