L'Axel sur Fontainebleau

Warm team, refined cuisine, from starter to dessert. Good wines. Return to L'Axel in September 2024 = still recommendable.

Second time here and such a wonderful experience. First time was a winter menu. This time it was summer. This is Japanese inspired French dining, with delicate artistry on a plate. Each course preceded by a refreshing tasting morsel. Everything was light but filling, a delight to eat and look at. Well worth the price for a special night out.

The Axel is a great discovery! Delicate, refined dishes, an explosion of flavors... an extremely pleasant team in the dining room, and a chef who takes the time to come to each table at the end of the meal.

Exceptional experience!!! It's a budget indeed but it's worth it. Very caring staff, very sober and classy setting, and divine cuisine. Thanks to the chef for these great discoveries.

This Michelin-starred restaurant offers a tasting menu with high-quality ingredients like lobster and Wagyu beef, presented beautifully. However, despite the impressive presentation, the flavors didn’t quite justify the high prices. Interestingly, the bread and butter were the highlights of the meal, which overshadowed the main courses. Service was mostly good, but there were a few minor issues, like some uncertainty with the cutlery placement and the bread and butter not always being available. The drink menu leans heavily towards fermented teas, which might appeal to some, but the non-alcoholic options felt a bit limited. Overall, while the restaurant has its strengths, it might not meet everyone’s expectations for a Michelin-starred experience.

Refined and elaborate dishes, but not the favorite for a dish that one can expect in a restaurant of this level and this price..., express service much too fast, no breathing between dishes, too bad

Bien accueilli - Service un peu guindé au début mais sans faille en terme de suivi et de déroulement du repas - Comme tous les étoilé maintenant, prix élevés par rapport aux quantités servis - Cuisine tendance asiatique de bon niveau, très précise avec une bonne progression dans le repas - Desserts de qualité - vins deviennent vite onéreux - Chef très aimable faisant le tour des tables en fin de soirée.
