Le 44 sur Chalon-Sur-Saone

Wonderful café, everything is homemade with love! The cakes are especially divine. We highly recommend the gluten-free chocolate tart :)

The salon is very nicely decorated, the managers are friendly, but there's not really a great atmosphere and you feel a bit watched by the person behind the counter. The products are good, but the prices are a bit high (€3.30 for a syrup made with water because they insist you buy mineral water), which is a shame.

We were on our way to Starbucks when we passed by number 44. We decided to give it a try; the decor is nice, the welcome is warm, and the waitresses are friendly. The cakes are homemade, which is a plus compared to the big chains, and they're really delicious. However, the drinks were a disaster: a tasteless coffee, a smoothie that tasted more like water than a smoothie, and when you make a proper chai latte in a tea room, you infuse the tea directly in the milk. What we got was nothing more than tea with a drop of milk in it, and frankly, it had absolutely no flavor. I find it really disappointing that for the same price as a big chain just 10 meters away, they offer smaller drinks of lower quality. This is definitely the one thing they need to improve to get a 100% rating because everything else is worthwhile.

A lovely spot for coffee or tea in Chalon-sur-Saône. We received a very warm welcome and the atmosphere is peaceful. Perfect for a relaxing break!
