Le Bar Andre sur La Rochelle

We received a very warm welcome at this brasserie for a romantic dinner. Our order was taken quickly and without any rush. We ordered two glasses of wine, including an excellent 2023 Bourgogne Mâcon white and a very good Côtes de Provence rosé, along with mussels and fries and fish and chips, all of which were excellent. For dessert, we enjoyed French toast with salted caramel and a crêpe Suzette generously drizzled with Grand Marnier and flambéed tableside. The staff was incredibly attentive. It's clear that all the employees, from the sommelier to the head waiter, have well-defined and efficient roles. The bill came to €73, and we were both delighted to have chosen this establishment.

Do we still need to say that André is a must-see in La Rochelle?

I had read a few reviews that had worried me a bit, but in the end, I had a wonderful time. I don't know much about wine, so I let the waitress choose for me. The wine paired perfectly with the dishes. The team is young, dynamic, and very friendly. A great find, I highly recommend it!

Decent, but frankly overpriced. I've never seen a €4 surcharge for a side dish. It's like a tourist scam. I don't like it.

A true institution in La Rochelle for seafood. Old-fashioned service, a beautiful setting, and consistently excellent food. The only downside during my visit: I was advised to take a seat in an air-conditioned room because it was very hot, which is good...except the air conditioning wasn't working. The staff was very young and not always well-supervised by management. Otherwise, no complaints. I'll go back because I had a good lunch despite the rather slow service in a nearly empty room.

A fantastic little seafood restaurant in La Rochelle. Bar André opens for dinner at 7pm, and as we were staying at Aire Camping-Car Port Neuf, it was a great place to head for an evening meal. We sat at the bar area and had oysters and wine, which was a lovely way to spend the evening. The oysters were delicious, the wine went down very nicely, and the staff were absolutely charming and welcoming. The whole place had a great atmosphere. One young member of staff had such a lovely smile that my partner immediately decided she wanted to put him “on reserve” for one of her daughters! 😂❤️ Cheeky, but I think it says something about how friendly and personable everyone was. We really enjoyed the place and left a tip to show our appreciation — always a good sign! Great oysters, good wine, lovely staff and a fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommended! 🦪🍷🇫🇷
