Wow! What a fantastic experience. We were actually going to the ‘one next door’ as La Fourchette had only one couple dining (1930hrs ish) and we hovered around outside reading the two restaurants menus outside…quickly we saw couple after couple enter La Fourchette and quickly followed suit (like sheep!!! 😜). We’re so glad we did. The welcome was warm and genuine and they gave a table without any hesitation…then customers just kept arriving, couples a large party of 12+, another larger table but this had no impact on food, service or quality. The set menu is extremely pocket friendly as the choices are varied with specials too. The wine list is very extensive and well worth spending time to read through. The front of house team worked together incredibly well and just gave nods to each other in respect of communication! Seamless! Our young lady server spoke English, French, Spanish and we believe a bit of Italian and so listening to her communicate with others was joyful. Florine also spoke very good English to us ‘school boy French but have-a-goers (!!) as did Benjamin. Don’t make the same mistake as we nearly did and ensure you book a table so you don’t miss out!! They did ask some customers who hadn’t booked to return in 1/2 hour as all tables were taken! On a Monday!!! Meals had were: 1. Gravlax - very very good 2. Duck liver / Fois gras terrine (special) - amazing! 1. Iberian pork shoulder - flawless! Melt in the mouth 2. Cod with Chorizo - Wow! 1. Cheeses - Very good, tasty strong cheeses (but cold and not room temperature) did not take away from experience in anyway. 2. Lemon tart - delicious. Thank you to the team at La Fourchette - wow!

A first class experience. The best meal we have had in France in weeks. The daube de boeuf is outstanding with delicious flavours.

The Michelin-recommended restaurant in Avignon is better than any restaurant in the square. There are not many seats and it is recommended to make a reservation in advance. We made a reservation directly on site the day before. The stewed osso bucco was very delicious.
