A friendly owner and quick service.
Sorry, no more set menus, a victim of its own success.
So, a generous portion of homemade fish and chips.
Not quite the taste you get across the Channel, but decent.
Fish and chips should be served with vinegar on hand, but we're in Chinon, not Brighton.
So, no problem.

Hear ye, hear ye! I, Alain III, Count of Montulat, Saint-Sornin-Leulac, and Gençay, hereby announce the enjoyment and delight that the tavern called "Café des Arts" so augustly provided us.
Many revelries and many feasts were offered to our gallant palates.

There were four of us without a reservation for dinner on August 17th. The waiters were able to find us a table on the terrace. There was a bit of a wait, but at least we weren't forced to finish our aperitifs during the meal, as is the case in other establishments that serve too quickly.
The food is excellent, hence the 5 stars...

Having booked just 20 minutes beforehand, I came to eat with a friend. We ordered a rare flank steak and another one (very) well-done. Both arrived at the same time, cooked exactly as we wanted, which is rare and much appreciated.
The service was excellent, despite the negative reviews that almost discouraged us.

Located in a town square, the atmosphere is pleasant for enjoying a beer, wine with some snacks, or even a meal. The waiters are attentive and helpful.
