We visited not very interesting exhibition about modern art in Serbia. Could be better

When visiting a museum with primarily temporary exhibitions, it naturally depends on what's on display whether it appeals to you. But I found the exhibition about personal stories from Belgrade very beautiful and accessible. The museum has three floors with a lovely, spacious space and good lighting. It's located near the city park, making it easy to combine a visit with it.

Great space with large galleries displaying a variety of installations and contemporary art. They have a restaurant/cafe and a good size gift shop. Plan on spending about 1.5 hours wandering around the exhibits. I purchased my entrance ticket upon arrival and there was no line to enter.

Excellent exhibitions, there was a guide who gave a brief introduction and was very good! The works on display were beautiful and the tour was also stimulating. I'm curious to see what will be organized in the future.

Very interesting, works of art, photographs, video installations, film. Some of the works are a bit shocking.

Some beautiful pieces and a few inspiring moments, but overall the collection felt a bit limited and not very well curated. The atmosphere could be improved to make the art stand out more. Still worth a short visit if you’re nearby.

As fans of modern and contemporary art museums, we didn't find what we were looking for in this one. The collections on display (from Belgrade) didn't appeal to us.

A fascinating and deeply inspiring experience at the MAC Lyon, enhanced by Emma's guided tour, whose sensitivity and knowledge truly brought the France – Serbia exhibition to life. From the moment we entered, the tour was distinguished by the richness of the works and the way the museum managed to create a dialogue between contemporary French and Serbian artists. The powerful and sometimes disconcerting installations revolve around universal themes: memory, the body, resistance, displacement, and reconstruction. Emma guided the group with rare precision: her explanations were both accessible and profound, blending historical context, symbolic insights, and studio anecdotes that gave each work a new dimension. Thanks to her, visitors were able to grasp not only the diversity of artistic approaches, but also the political and cultural echoes that run through the two countries. Certain pieces leave a lasting impression: the hybrid sculptures that seem to come to life under the light, the immersive installations where the body becomes landscape, or the monumental textile compositions that blend fragility and power. Emma invited us to look at things differently, to go beyond our first impression to discover what each material, each form, each silence meant. The museum's open and welcoming atmosphere enhances the experience: we feel free to ask questions, to exchange ideas, and to reflect collectively. This moment of sharing, both intellectual and emotional, perfectly illustrates the MAC Lyon's vocation: to make contemporary art alive, accessible, and profoundly human. A huge thank you to Emma for her infectious passion, her enlightened perspective, and her attentiveness to each individual. Thanks to her, this visit was not only an artistic discovery, but a true inner journey. An exhibition not to be missed, and a museum that we leave wanting to return very soon.
