Honestly I should not give such a review for this hidden gem…. Wow, the food is amazing, trust me on it. Do not expect a menu with exhaustive choices, but the ‘menu’ is good or go for the steak with home made fries…… The place has a great outdoor terrace with plenty of shade, a good wine list… no need to say more. Make a reservation as seats are limited and take your time, drink some wine and have conversations with your table friends…. Don’t go for a quick lunch or dinner, go for the experience.
My wife and I dined at Le Caillau. We were seated by Chas the owner. He took care of us wonderfully through out our meal. We had the set menu. Chef Caroline worked her magic again from start to finish our meal was delicious. The smoked salmon with pears and walnuts and horseradish cream was a perfect combination. Next came the braised Guinea foul (so tender) on a bed of cauliflower and garlic puree and haricot verts in an white wine cream sauce. Is your mouth watering yet..Oh I forgot to add the bowl of crispy chips...yum!!! For dessert she made the most scrupulous red berry pavlova wow incredible service and meal we will be back!
Really very pleasant restaurant, quiet, bucolic.
The terrace is great, the owner very welcoming.
Everything was very good, I recommend this restaurant.
Love the new format at Le Caillau. Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch with family & friend. Le Caillau is a welcome retreat on a grey day, and with a gorgeous outside setting when the sun shines
The Sunday lunch was a fixed menu and just perfect in every way. Quality produced and cooked local food. Wide selection of reasonably priced wines to go along with the Exceptional quality and value menu. Well done Chas & Caroline
