Le Caillau sur Vire-Sur-Lot

Superb food, original, intense and very well balanced flavours, using quality local ingredients. Lovely courtyard setting. Chairs and tables a little awkward and uncomfortable but well worth enduring for the food.

Food, drinks and atmosphere were fantastic. Evelien helped us tremendously and also advised us on the restrictions regarding allergies. That radiant smile, the kindness. Top. Good luck Eef😁

Très beau cadre, aussi bien en terrasse qu en salle Service efficace. Menu à première vue simple mais parfaitement exécuté, plein de saveur et à prix cohérent. Gaspacho pêche concombre basilic et fromage de chèvre Dorade et galette ddxriz croustillant, original et très bon Souffle aux mandarines

Our third visit and we were not disappointed. If was our 40th wedding anniversary and the restaurant was the perfect place to celebrate with friends. Great food and atmosphere. Thank you Eve for the really friendly service and the lovely presentation platter. We are looking forward to our next visit ....soon !

In een voormalig wijnchâteau genieten van heerlijk eten in een leuke authentieke ambiance. Frans/Engels sprekende bediening. Reserveren is verstandig.

Bonne cuisine et très beau cadre

Restaurant situé à quelques minutes de Duravel accessible facilement. Un bel ensemble bâti avec une grande cour fermée. Pour notre première venue notre table se situe sous le préau. Le cadre est campagnard et agréable. Bémol pas de ventilateurs et de destructeurs d'insectes. Concernant la carte des vins elle est centrée sur les vins de Cahors avec quelques grands domaines. La cuisine est inventive et très fine. L'accord des saveurs est exceptionnel. Une très bonne table à recommander. Nous y reviendrons avec plaisir.

Our first visit to Le Caillau but we will definitely return when we are next in the region. The setting is just beautiful, from inside the restaurant you are surrounded by the vineyards and the beautiful court garden. We did dine during a rain storm but the barn restaurant was so warm and cosy with a fireplace, you forget about the miserable weather. The service was so attentive; we tried our best to communicate in French but both waitresses had perfect English which made us feel a bit more relaxed. Service was friendly and we did not feel rushed off our table. The waitresses' knowledge on wine was amazing, they were able to recommend a local red to pair with my lamb fillet that was still subtle enough for a non-red drinker. The food was 5*. We opted to not go for starters as none of them really took our fancy but the mains were superb. My lamb fillet was the best thing I have ever eaten, cooked to absolute perfection. I tried their dessert of the day, a plum pavlova which too was divine, while my partner had the chocolate and caramel tart. The prices were very reasonable and the food quality is exceptional. I believe our total was approximately €80 for the two of us to each have a main and dessert and each a glass of wine.
