Le Cancalais sur Saint-Malo

Very warm welcome, very good and plentiful food.

Terrace open off-season (January). Coffee 1.50 - Armagnac 9.00 EUR - friendly waiter - there are still these nice, honest places out there.

Today I was quite dissatisfied with a waiter who could have been more friendly, especially since my Viennese hot chocolate was only slightly warm. I asked him if it could be warmed up, and he turned his head as he took my glass, and then took a second glass from a friend, which was also lukewarm. He turned his head again and forced me to do so, giving me a sideways glance. He seemed unhappy, judging by his expression, and finished his shift an hour later. The second time, the waiter was perfectly normal. We come every Sunday. Thank you.

Excellent meal, simple but well-prepared dishes. Smiling and friendly staff who recognize their customers, which is much appreciated. Not to mention the stunning view in the sunshine. After years of going, we always return to Le Cancalais with pleasure. The Valencay wine is still as good as ever, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Whether on the terrace or inside, there's a great choice of ambiance. Well done!

We stopped after a walk, no regrets at all. The view of the port and the tower was lovely, the welcome was very warm, and the food was plentiful and of good quality, at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it.
