Le Channel sur Calais

We went to Chanel this evening for the first time, and it was the most wonderful culinary discovery of our lives. The service was exceptional, with pleasant and attentive waiters, and the dishes were of remarkable quality, from the amuse-bouche to the dessert... All this in a marvelous setting, tastefully decorated. And for a more than reasonable price! We thank the waiters and chefs again for this unforgettable evening! See you soon! Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in Calais. Everything is perfect, especially the welcome!

One of my favorite places, which I hadn't been to in a while. What a pleasure to be back! Refined cuisine, authentic flavors, and above all, seasonal ingredients. From the service to the food and the owner's kindness, you'll want to come back again and again! There's no children's menu, but they always find something to suit their tastes. 👍 Exceptional value for money.

Beautiful establishment. (I really like the view of the "well" wine cellar.) It's not my usual style of cuisine, but I'm glad I came; I was able to discover some different flavors. The restroom is accessible in an unusual way (either by a very slow elevator that only allows two people at a time, or by a building's staircase). The view into the kitchen is appealing (but as a result, we could see and hear the disagreements between the waitstaff and the cooks; it was tense).

During our weekend in Calais, we stumbled upon the restaurant LE CHANNEL. What a delightful surprise! A very warm welcome, excellent cuisine, delectable desserts, and impeccable service. We ordered sole that was perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth tender, accompanied by tender vegetables and an excellent, creamy risotto. The scallops were seared just barely, not overcooked, so they were perfectly tender, served with a delicious pan-fried mushroom medley. As for the desserts, they were simply divine. Go without hesitation. We will definitely return on our next trip to Calais.

Our dinner at Le Channel, located just a few minutes’ walk from our IHG hotel in Calais, proved to be superb experience. Though I later learned the restaurant was once graced with a Michelin award, the current high standards demonstrate that its excellence remains. The dedication to hospitality was immediately evident, especially given our language barrier to French. The staff extended an exceptional standard of customer service, taking great care of us with friendliness and patience. This genuine approach to service is clearly what fosters deep loyalty; observing the staff interact with several long-time customers, confirmed that this establishment cultivates enduring relationships. That proved what I saw from some of the comments about the restaurant. We opted for the 3-course meal, which was priced very reasonably for the quality provided, alongside an additional steak. The set menu was a delight, beginning with a flavorful French sausage starter, moving to a perfectly prepared fish main course, and culminating in a truly wonderful dessert. Equally impressive was the standalone steak, which arrived exactly as requested with a perfect medium cook. Comparing this experience to a slightly cheaper lunch we had earlier in the day, Le Channel was clearly superior. Though it may no longer carry a Michelin star, the overall dining experience remains at a very high level. If my travels ever bring me back to Calais, a return visit to Le Channel is absolutely guaranteed.

We have been you g to le channel for the past 25 years, we used to go once a month when the tunnel fares were cheap! The quality and execution of the food is consistently excellent, the staff and owners go out of their way to be as helpful as possible and the atmosphere is lovely! Ohhh and they have a great and varied wine list at sensible prices, happy days! We went this time with family so the youngest was 3 years old all the way though to me parents, they even did us a child friendly dinner for them, thank you 🙏 it’s not cheap but it is very good value

A very good restaurant with a witty and friendly head waiter. Elegant yet welcoming atmosphere. Excellent oysters. Generous amuse-bouche. Numerous wines by the glass. The lunchtime set menu with the fish of the day for €22 is very good value for money. Several regulars. The restrooms, however, are quite a distance away, upstairs.
