The food was acceptable, acceptable because I personally found it very good, but my friend found three large pieces of plastic in her pot of mussels. She pointed it out to the waitress, who didn't seem concerned and told us she'd speak to the cook. No response or apology. Then... My other friend ordered a coffee, and after 20 minutes we got up because there was still no coffee! This time, the waitress apologized, saying she hadn't heard, but she still hadn't brought the bill. We are still waiting for an apology and/or some kind of compensation.

We came twice in 15 days. The owner and staff are lovely, accommodating, helpful, and very friendly. The food is excellent, as is the beer. The dining room is very pleasant. This stopover in Calais was meant to be a practical one, but it turned out to be very enjoyable, especially thanks to the Strait of Dover. We will return to the North, to Calais and elsewhere, and especially to the Strait of Dover, with great pleasure!

A lovely and fairly spacious restaurant with a rather calm and pleasant atmosphere 👍 We arrived as a group of seven around 6:40 pm. The major drawback was the service: only one person seemed to be managing the main dining room. As a result, our drinks didn't arrive until around 7:30 pm. Once the drinks were served, our food was taken quickly 👍 but it didn't arrive until around 8:40 pm… we were starting to wonder if it would ever come at all 😅 We ordered mussels with Maroilles cheese for €17.90. The portion was decent and the mussels were good, but we were hugely disappointed with the Maroilles sauce: there was practically no Maroilles flavor. We all agreed on this at the table. A shame for a dish that bears this name, especially in the North where this cheese should really sing on the plate 🧀 We didn't even order dessert because of the wait and left around 9:20 pm. Positive points: pleasant setting and reasonable prices. Points for improvement: speed of service and consistency of dishes compared to the menu.

A fantastic restaurant! At the beginning of March, I indulged in a multi-course tasting menu showcasing French cuisine, ordering only the conch shells, bone marrow, meat, and dessert... everything was simply divine. The mussels at the next table looked amazing too. This restaurant has all the charm you could wish for, the staff knows exactly what they're doing, and they showed me just how delicious French food can be. Thank you! Keep up the great work!

Be warned, the pot of mussels is piping hot! And that's a good thing because the mussels stay warm until the end of the rather generous portion. A nice little Sauvignon Blanc wine. Everything is provided, and the manager is friendly...

The title may be misleading to UK residents as the name is associated with American food. Fortunately they serve French food and our French friends recommended them as a place to eat. We found the parking very easy right opposite acres of free parking. Definitely a regular place for us to eat when passing through Calais

24/06/2025: My wife had her birthday two days ago and received a voucher for a free pie, valid on Sunday (or Monday if her birthday fell on a Sunday). Since she and I were working all day Monday, we were unable to pick it up that day. So we came on Tuesday, planning to buy a pizza or baguettes and asking if it was still possible to get the free pie. If that wasn't possible, we were prepared to buy another dessert. We are regular customers; we've been coming here for muffins for over three years, and we've always been very well received by the rest of the staff. However, the saleswoman we dealt with that day was professional and courteous, without being friendly or welcoming. She simply told us that it wasn't possible to pick up the pie because the voucher was only valid for one day. My wife explained why she hadn't come earlier, but she seemed indifferent, even annoyed, and replied, "Sorry, have a nice day," before going back behind the counter to attend to another customer without even asking if we wanted anything else. So we left with nothing, disappointed at not having had the pie, but more importantly, feeling like we'd been kicked out. There were still five pies left two hours before closing time, and we would have appreciated if she had at least tried to find out if something could be done, or simply taken the time to ask us if we wanted something else and offer an alternative pie. In short, it wasn't businesslike. We're very disappointed, and we're not sure we'll return if it's for a similar experience.
