Le Fort Marie-Christine sur Aussois

Excellent quality meal! Everything was homemade, we had a great time.

He was on a hike. I don't know what the restaurant is like...

We went to Fort Marie Christine for a Savoyard fondue dinner. Not bad, but not extraordinary. Perhaps the quality of the three cheeses was the issue. The fondue didn't seem to be a consistent mix. Acceptable. The dining room is spacious with high ceilings. The history of this historic fort is interesting and emblematic of the region. Worth discovering.

Thank goodness it wasn't our last evening in Aussois! This review is about the restaurant. Let's start with the positives: the dishes were tasty and original, the waiter was friendly and attentive, and the wine was good. The setting is unique, and the walk to the fort is beautiful. But most of us opted for raclette, and one couple chose fondue. What a disaster! The fondue sets and the spatulas (Tefal-style) were scratched, the heating elements worked erratically, turning the (rather bland) cheese into a half-burnt mush. As for the fondue, it was cheese soup. We pointed this out to the waiter (thanks again) and were told that this was the chef's way of making it. To top it all off, the salt and pepper were in packets… In short, I won't be ordering raclette or fondue there again.

The ambiance of this restaurant, its cuisine, and the quality of service are remarkable.

We were delighted to find such a pleasant place, with friendly service and interesting, sophisticated dishes, even though you'll find traditional options. We can't comment on the rooms, although the price seems attractive in such a special setting! Well done!

The room was very basic. But the restaurant was excellent.

Excellent starters, main courses, and desserts with beautiful presentation. Attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommended.
