Le Fournil De L'artisan sur Lyon

A colleague brought back some pastries from this bakery. I just tasted the white chocolate brioche! A treat! 🫠 A real discovery 🥰

Passing through the Cour Lafayette perpendicular to Rue Masséna (I prefer to specify because this is not displayed first (photo by a contributor Florian Léon) on Google Maps but rather the Boulangerie which is located a few meters further on at 185 cours Lafayette) so I noticed the bakery “le Fournil de l’artisan2” there and went in for some raisin bread. What I can tell you is that this raisin bread is the best I have eaten to date. The grapes are tasty, the dough has a good amount of butter and the pastry cream is relatively “correct”. And the topping is excellent. Why excellent? As I said previously in a comment addressed to the Kayser bakery near the Lyon Opera, their raisin bread was quite good but too loaded with sugar due to a topping obviously with too much sugar and a dough insufficiently lifted. Conclusion: Disgusting because from bite to bite, the desire to stop comes to us even if it's good. We must admit... To return to our sheep or rather our raisin bread at the “Fournil de l’artisan”, I don’t give it a 5 but I’m almost tempted to do so. It’s just that the custard perhaps lacks a “je ne sais quoi” that would have made the difference. That said, make no mistake; no doubt, for me it is the best of all those I have tasted. Now the tastes and colors!
