Le Gruber sur Strasbourg

We suddenly decided to have dinner there and it was much, much better than in another famous restaurant recommended in travel books where we had booked the day before. The food was delicious, the service was quick and friendly. Only to recommend.

Atypical places, we are very well received, very well served and what a good food!

Too crowded Place very popular with tourists

I don't understand the bad reviews at all. I've been here a lot and I've always eaten something different and everything was delicious! The service is sometimes a bit slow and the tables are too close together. But otherwise everything was great!!

Excellent food and service. Our waitress was terrific and answered all the questions with a smile. Highly recommended.

We had seen Le Gruber over the wall of the medieval garden at the Musée de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame in Strasbourg, and after leaving the museum darted inside the restaurant during a heavy rain. We passed by several times after visiting sites around Strasbourg Cathedral, but never stepped inside until this rainy day. The brasserie is in an old house whose interior is decorated with assorted knick-knacks giving it a cluttered rustic feel. There was a good-size crowd enjoying lunch on this day. The menu covered many regional specialties, and we tried the Baeckeoffe (baker’s oven) with three meats (lamb, beef, pork), and Bibeleskaes (cheese/cream sauce with chives) with potato pancakes and smoked salmon. Le Gruber’s service was good and efficient, and the dishes were all quite good. This ended up being a great way to avoid the rain and enjoy some traditional Alsatian dishes in Strasbourg.
