Le Hasting's sur Cabourg

We ate there on December 31st without a reservation. The set menu was €95, including starter, main course, trou normand (a small glass of Calvados served between courses), cheese, and dessert. Very good, friendly service. Lovely setting.

After many years away, it's a shame Pascal wasn't there, but I found the Hasting I knew and loved. Very good lunch, excellent service. Cheers, Olivier, JP's brother.

The only café open on December 25th: very welcome to warm up a bit after a short walk on the beach. And the service is very friendly too!

Excellent lunch, plus the mussels by the sea were fantastic.

The food was very good, as was the service; we were welcomed at 2:45 pm. However, the waitress was "odd"; she forgot our order, leaned over the table to speak to us, and made some inappropriate remarks. We might come back.

We ate a seafood platter. Very good, fresh, well presented.

Hasting's does things well and executes them efficiently. We went there, passing through Cabourg, without knowing anything about it. We received a warm welcome. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly; it's the kind of restaurant where you immediately feel at ease thanks to the decor, the furniture, the music, and even the servers. Then, the set menu was perfectly executed, the balance of the dish was perfect. I was blown away by the veal escalope à la normande; the meat and sauce were expertly balanced. The chef perfectly controlled the richness, acidity, and even the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes, the strong flavor of the pea shoots, and the acidity of the small plum/mirabelle wedges (I think) in the sauce. An excellent, unexpected, and flavorful meal, with truly great value for money!
