Le Lion D'or sur Montsoreau

The Nutella crepe leaves much to be desired. The Nutella itself is good, but the crepe batter is very average. We expected something better in such an iconic place as this town, one of the most beautiful in France. On the other hand, the beer prices are lower than in other bars, so it's worth having a beer and admiring the town views.

At 4:30 pm on a sunny Sunday afternoon, we ordered crêpes. They took our order, only to tell us 15 minutes later that it wasn't possible. The crêpes were barely fresh... So, mixed feelings.

A really nice place. There were 10 of us Belgians on bikes, and honestly, we were very well received! The fish and dips and the croque monsieur are fantastic! The owner and staff are incredibly attentive! I highly recommend it!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Lion d’Or is a lovely bar and a great place to stop for a drink and relax for a while. We really enjoyed our visit and found it had a welcoming, traditional atmosphere that made it very easy to sit back and enjoy ourselves. The service was excellent throughout. We were served quickly, the staff were friendly and attentive, and everything felt relaxed without having to wait around. It’s always nice to find somewhere where you can simply take a seat, order a drink and enjoy the surroundings. One of the unexpected highlights was sitting outside and watching the traffic going past! It became quite entertaining watching the cars manoeuvring in front of the bar and trying to work out exactly who had right of way. It provided some great people-watching and certainly kept us amused while we enjoyed our drinks. The location is ideal for sitting outside and watching the world go by, and there was a really pleasant atmosphere during our visit. Sometimes the simplest places are the most enjoyable, and the Lion d’Or was certainly one of those for us. A great visit, good service, nice atmosphere and plenty of entertainment outside. We would definitely return if we’re in the area again. Highly recommended!

Charming place, the staff are very welcoming and friendly! The view of the Loire is lovely. We had a very good lunch, an excellent time spent during our vacation!

A bar in a great location right on the banks of the Loire! We had lunch there and it was delicious. The staff is very friendly. I recommend the house cocktail, Le Félin.

Fast service, pleasant waitresses...the prices are reasonable.
