Le Matafan sur Chamonix-Mont-Blanc

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Le Matafan last week! I didn't even know the head chef Mickey Bourdillat has a Michelin star from his previous restaurant! The wait staff were attentive and the food incredible. Definitely our favourite dinner in Chamonix!! Bravo!

The food was just okay. The steak was over cooked (see the gray rim) and the flavors of the other items were fine

Here reigns like a sweet scent of yesteryear, a taste of sweet France, the place is delightful and invites languor and enjoyment. From the moment you are welcomed you know that you are going to be pampered and taken to the beaches of delicacy, the meal was as promised, refined and succulent, served by staff attentive to your every desire, And to top it all off, you have lunch in the shadow of the majestic Mont-Blanc. So, if you go to Chamonix, know that the opportunity to discover a corner of paradise exists, it’s up to you. Michael

Original menu discreet and efficient service. Nice room. A bit hot in summer

I had too high expectations, the reviews were great, the food was very average, there was no feeling that it was freshly prepared, and not reheated. We had dinner with the family, I ate risotto, it was difficult to call it risotto, each of us had a feeling of surprise, because both the restaurant and the hotel have such a high rating. I canceled the evening reservation.

I'm happy to report that this special property got it's sparkle back. We have been coming to this property for 20 years, we used to stay here. When it was under Chinese ownership it sank in quality and experience. I'm happy to report under new French ownership, it's come back to it's former self. We were able to eat outside at the just opened terrace near the pool. We had a beautiful meal with excellent service. The only downside was (I hate to say) another American who could not control his demanding children who acted like it was a park instead of a restaurant, running yelling and ignoring their father. My husband had to hold me back from saying something. If you have annoying children take them to McDonalds, people are paying real money to enjoy a nice experience here!

Much improved in the last year. Gone are the loud bus loads of Chinese tourists. We ate outside near the pool, this new space is lovely. The food and service very good.

We didn't really like the decor and the food. Overrated.

C’est toujours un plaisir de dîner au Matafan! Les yeux fermés pour commander et on va de surprise en surprise ! Gustativement c’est top ! Joliment présenté, la qualité est là et avec un service irréprochable ! C’est vraiment appréciable . Je précise qu’il est impensable de passer à côté des desserts, absolument délicieux et originaux. Bravo à l’équipe de l’hôtel restaurant, à mon sens une des meilleures adresses de Chamonix

I think you must go here in Chamonix. The service and food at this price range are truly amazing. The service is good and the food tastes good, so I think I might go a second time.
