Le Melting-Pot sur Cherbourg-Octeville

11/10/2026: We really enjoyed the menu; however, the signature dish, the "lobster," was far too salty. I mentioned it to the waitstaff with a smile, but in fact, I should have asked for it to be sent back to the kitchen. We chose a white wine from the wine list. The sommelier opened our bottle with his back turned, tasted it, and while I had no problem with it, I would have appreciated his opinion on the wine. Absolutely nothing—so classy! Fresh flowers instead of plastic and more friendly service would have been appreciated.

27/09/2026: A truly beautiful place, a magical setting at the mercy of the water and the wind. The cuisine is exclusively fish-based, each dish surprising, a real pleasure, and the combinations are simply brilliant. The chef is always present. The staff is bustling without being overbearing; the whole operation is perfectly orchestrated by a discreet yet very active and attentive owner, and a head waiter who keeps a watchful eye on the entire dining room. Bravo for this ballet! The only drawback: the wine list. Why impose natural wines on everyone? I thought the customer was king and that they came to enjoy themselves. There were four of us, and we were all disappointed. A good Burgundy or a good vintage Loire is so much more enjoyable. In the future, please consider others as well. Sir, who is in charge of the wines, not everyone likes wine, and isn't the role of a sommelier to have wines for customers who do? No hard feelings.
