Le Moulin sur Albi

Having discovered it four years ago, we were delighted to find the same menu, the same atmosphere, and the same quirky owner! A very good restaurant.

The food was truly generous and excellent. One point deducted for the men's restrooms, which weren't clean and there was no hand soap…

The €30 set menu was excellent. I recommend the beef carpaccio, and also the foie gras with fig jam! Delicious! For our main course, we had the lamb shank, which was also very good. And for dessert, the tiramisu was superb.

The food is first class, very good! But the service is extremely slow. We almost missed the bus back. After an hour they had only eaten the first course. We had to ask for water and twice for wine which they brought us after the first course. It's a shame that such good food is second nature. A significant effort is needed by the owners to improve the service, which on the other hand they did what they could.

Excellent food, very welcoming, highly recommended

Our meal was a mixed bag. The restaurant is geared towards tourists, and the dishes were okay, even mediocre. We waited 45 minutes for our starters, a salad and a foie gras toast. (But up to that point, the food was fine.) The dishes were poorly reheated and far too overcooked: the duck was well past its normal cooking time (no longer pink at all), and the fish was tough and dry (as if it had been placed on a plate, forgotten, and then quickly reheated in the oven or microwave). It's a shame. The desserts were passable. Especially the one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream: it's a pity there wasn't a trace of vanilla in the ice cream (completely artificial, yellow ice cream… 😅). When we paid and were asked how it went, we politely shared our mixed experience, and it was almost as if the waitress didn't care and the question was just asked out of politeness. It's a real shame, I think there are better places to eat in Albi & that the restaurant is relying a bit too much on the few awards it received in previous years…

An authentic restaurant on a quiet and charming street in Albi, I recommend it 100%.
