Le Palace Beach sur Menthon-Saint-Bernard

It was about time! After suffering various misfortunes, this sleeping beauty has emerged from its slumber thanks to a takeover orchestrated by a Lyon-based group with extensive experience in luxury hotels. Like a flagship flying the Art Deco flag, this palace has happily moored itself in the lagoon's inlet of this upscale neighborhood in the suburbs of Annecy, challenging its counterpart on the opposite shore. This challenge has been more than met thanks to the Belle Époque architecture, rescued from oblivion, whose centerpiece is the exceptional monumental staircase. Its "tongue of a kiss" extends from the roller door at the palace's entrance to the water's edge. The exquisite and inspired interior restoration places the entire establishment in a cultural balance between tradition and refined modernism. Perhaps a more distinctive style in the furniture selection would have added to the magic of the place. The service is on par with the finest establishments, as are the products used. The glass-enclosed rotunda of the dining room offers an immersive experience, drawing you into a backdrop of natural scenery subtly enhanced by a touch of authentic architectural elegance. Menthon stands as a beacon, a guardian of our shared heritage. A sight to behold and a sound to behold, because we only live once.

The place is magnificent; the charm of the old building has been preserved or recreated. The staff are attentive and kind. The view and the proximity to the lake allow you to relax and fully enjoy yourself, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

A very beautiful hotel with an exceptional view, But unfortunately, the amenities are far from what you'd expect from a luxury hotel. The king-size bed is actually two single beds pushed together, the furniture is outdated, there's a desk without a chair but a kind of pouf instead, very few electrical outlets, a scratched toilet, and a small showerhead in the bathtub. Breakfast is varied but nothing special. The hotel restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings, so we had to eat at the bar, which is quite small, and our meal was served lukewarm. Access to the spa is from the outside. This hotel is unfortunately nothing like a luxury hotel, but it does have an absolutely exceptional view.

Excellent location. The setting is superb. The staff is friendly. But there are some drawbacks... The room is dated, the toilet is scratched, the shower head in the bathroom is unworthy of a modern shower, and the desk has a pouf for a seat—a typical 4-star item only available upon request, even though we're in a supposedly 5-star palace. Too many shortcomings for a hotel to claim 5-star status. The Imperial Palace in Annecy, which is a 4-star hotel, offers truly superior amenities. One last detail: no special welcome upon arrival (no candy, sweets, or anything else) even though it was my birthday... I tried, but I'll return to the Imperial Palace in Annecy, but not here. You need to improve! Fortunately, there's a superb view of the lake.

A wonderful stay for my sweetheart's 40th birthday! Stunning location, cozy room and bedding, and above all, peaceful! Special mention for the breakfast and its dining room with panoramic lake views! The staff were incredibly attentive, and a special thank you to the very friendly valet when we left!
