Le Portofino sur Bar-Le-Duc

I didn't want to leave a review, but last night made up my mind. We've eaten at the restaurant twice (in the space of two years), without ever being truly impressed by the food. Last night (for the third time, then) confirmed our initial impression. We ordered two pizzas to eat at home. They were, once again, far too salty! (We drank all evening and night.) Furthermore, mine was very poorly prepared. The person who made it clearly didn't put in any effort; all the ingredients were piled in the same place, the ham pieces were stuck together, etc. Enough is enough. We won't be going back.

Very pleasant and good value for money

A great find! Excellent pasta and pizzas. A spacious dining area, fast service, and very reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place.

The food is very good, the cocktails have original and fun names, the welcome on the ground floor is pleasant, and the staff is polite. The quality of service is excellent. I'm deducting one star to point out that some of the upstairs servers are rather unfriendly, one in particular. Otherwise, I have nothing to complain about because I enjoy going there.

The pizzas aren't what they used to be! Takeaway order: the pizzas are burnt, the ham cubes aren't even fully cut... and to top it all off, indigestion during the night!

The food was very good. The atmosphere was average. The service was excellent, especially at the beginning of the meal; the waitress was incredibly helpful, and I thank her again. HOWEVER... A MESSAGE TO THE MANAGER (since it seems to be his responsibility): my vegetarian friend wanted a Savoyard pizza, BUT without ham, of course. So she asked if she could replace the ham (meat) with mushrooms (vegetables, probably canned), and the waiter charged her €1.50 for this "change"... a disguised rip-off, really bad customer service. If they had just removed the ham, she could have gotten a €1.50 discount?! The waiter told me, well, NO. Anyway, this detail spoiled the end of our evening... moreover, the edges of the pizzas were burnt. If you want coal, you go to the mine, not to a restaurant. We never complain about anything, but this extra charge for a small ingredient swap is going to stick in our craw... So, boss, are you being stingy, or would you be willing to be a little more flexible in the future? And don't give me your canned response like in other comments I've read; it's always the same, as if you hired chatGPT to answer customers... We had to force ourselves into this restaurant, whose storefront and interior are dilapidated. The menu in the window is moldy... The siding is crumbling, the awnings and blinds are faded, and the whole place reeks of neglect. We wondered if the food was anything like the exterior... Since all the restaurants in Bar-le-Duc were full and we weren't from the area, we didn't really have a choice, and that's the only reason we braved our apprehensions (and a local who reassured us that the food was good). Indeed, the pizzas were very good, the crust perfectly thin, the toppings flavorful, and the sauce aromatic. Our waitress was very welcoming and friendly, and the waiter behind the counter, who took our payment, was very pleasant. The wine was quite decent, and the bill was very reasonable. In short, don't judge a book by its cover; this restaurant is worth a visit. I hope he can carry out the renovations he deserves.

The food is good and the atmosphere is nice. The service is good, although some servers occasionally make small, unhelpful remarks—we are still customers, after all (even if the customer isn't always king). Reservations are highly recommended, if not essential.

Always so good and welcoming. The veal in creamy mushroom sauce with linguine was excellent. For me, it just needed a little more sauce on the pasta. Otherwise, keep up the good work!
