No trip to Megève is complete for us without an evening at the Refuge du Calvaire. This is our ‘go to’ place for fondue and raclette. On our recent visit however we chose to have steaks and both the Chateaubriand filet and the Argentine Angus were superb. Desserts were delicious, especially the Crepe Suzette which was prepared at the table with all due drama. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the welcome is genuine. A firm favourite of visitors and locals alike.

No trip to Megève is complete for us without an evening spent at the Refuge du Calvaire. The welcome is warm and the restaurant is a favourite of visitors and locals alike. (Our fellow diners consisted of a large table of local mountain guides on a ‘works’ night out!) The fondue, raclette and other local dishes are delicious. Last evening, however, we chose to have steaks and both the ‘Chateaubriand’ filet and Argentine Angus were excellent. Desserts were amazing especially the Crèpe Suzette which was prepared with all due drama at the table. We eat at this restaurant regularly and recommend it highly.

If it were possible 10 stars I would give it. Everything was delicious. The steak with pepper sauce was the best dish I ate in Megève. The family atmosphere. And the staff are super friendly. It was a real pleasure. I wish you a wonderful winter ❄️ Kisses from the Brazilian group 🇧🇷

It’s still a very good place “in its own right” to taste raclettes and Savoyard specialties. We return there every year and we were able to have a very pleasant lunch on the terrace. It's always just as good with a warm welcome... above all, don't change anything!

Un rapport qualité prix exceptionnelle, une cuisine toujours rechercher et avec des produit locaux, authentique et en petit comité, petite pièce… Une adresse où je me rend plusieurs fois par an, et jamais déçu !

Le Refuge

09/12/2024: I've come here several times over the last decade and will keep coming back for the foreseeable future. The food this time was particularly delicious, even though I'd had 2 of the main dishes before so it wasn't new to me but it all just tasted amazing. Truffle fondue, beef wellington and chocolate creme brulee (this one was a first as this was new on the menu - super appreciate it) - all perfect! The fondue did take about 45min to arrive but after that (since it was past 2:00 at this point), everything else was faster but don't go here if you are in a rush (which is totally fine by me as we usually go knowing we'll spend a good 2-3 hours enjoying the views and cozy atmosphere). Service was good overall with personnel often coming to ensure everything was going ok. It would be nice to change up the menu more or make it slightly larger though for those of us that come year after year but otherwise all good.
08/12/2024: Excellent time, welcoming staff, the dishes are very good. We will come back!
