Le Relais des Vignes Restaurant sur Soissons

Pleasant hotel for one night. Spa facilities were adequate. The restaurant was good, and the service was pleasant and quick.

With a reservation at 730pm, stopped by on a Friday evening. With only a few tables occupied, we had our choice of tables and the dining room was relatively quiet. Here is a run-down of what we ordered: The Royale de Champignons was served hot and was tasty; however, it was over-cooked with a very dry egg mixture. The Foie Gras Mi Cuit was very good but a surprisingly small portion was served. The Brioche Facon Pain Perdu was very good. The Burger Cheddar was average but not worthy of the price charged. The Saint Jacques was very tasty and was excellent. The Filet de Boeuf was over-cooked, not served hot and was not tender. The bernaise sauce was barely luke warm instead of hot as expected. The frites (fries) served with this plate were not all crispy and not served hot as expected. The Risotto Aux Cepes was creamy with a very good texture; however, the portion served was too large and the taste of Cepes was too strong. The bread served was not fresh which is unfortunate when they could have served fresh bread from a local bakery nearby. Overall, we were quite pleased with the service and ambiance and quite displeased with the food served for the price paid. The hotel restaurant has the potential for being quite successful if they have a cooking staff who really cares about the quality of the food served and sources all products from locally based producers. Based on this most recent experience, we will not be back.
