We received a very warm welcome at this restaurant, which was open on a Monday. The waiter offered to adjust the menu for the children (as there wasn't a children's menu). The baked egg with foie gras was delicate. The duck shepherd's pie was also mild, and the portion was larger when not included in the set menu. The Cajasse cheese was melt-in-your-mouth tender.

The dish was poorly presented. The portions weren't very generous; this duck breast was served with mashed potatoes, no sauce, and no presentation whatsoever, not even a lettuce leaf and another vegetable: a very sad dish. The waiter was friendly. What a shame.

For a special Valentine's Day, the atmosphere was superb (with the actors in purple), the waiter was incredible, and the food was perfect! Thank you again ❤️

In February, this restaurant deserves credit for being open, located in a rather charming neighborhood and a historic building. Only two of the three appetizer options on the menu were available, and we were asked to change our order. The main courses were good, well-presented, and generous. I didn't like the way the menu boards outside and inside the restaurant were written. The appetizer/main course/desserts were listed for €22, but it was actually €26. For €22, you have to make a choice; three of us misread it... um... €26 isn't written anywhere; it was only pointed out to us when we went to order our dessert, which we thought we understood. I didn't particularly like the waiter's personality.

We stumbled upon this spot for a meal on a winter Monday. We appreciated the warm welcome, the service, and the dishes, which showcased a distinctly Périgord identity. There was a bit of a wait, but it was quickly forgotten. I recommend it.

Fleur D'Oranger

26/12/2025: A small, family-run salon where the hot chocolate and crepes are very good.
18/12/2025: Passing through Bergerac this afternoon, my wife and I decided to have a snack. What a wonderful idea we had when we stopped at this tea room/soup bar! The interior is very pleasant, relaxing, and clean, and the lady who served us was very kind, which was a real plus. We ordered two sugar crepes with a Viennese hot chocolate and a decaf coffee, and well… it was absolute bliss, a delight for the taste buds, the holy grail of our sweet tooth (we were like Anton Ego with his ratatouille at the end of the film "Ratatouille," literally transported back to childhood). The hot chocolate was divine (finally, we rediscovered the chocolatey taste we drank as children), made with milk (which is becoming increasingly rare), and just the right amount of sweet. As for the crepes, they were simply delicious and light. Regarding the coffee, I had to ask if it was decaf I'd been served, as it tasted like a truly high-quality coffee. Add to that a very reasonable price-quality ratio, and you have an undeniably excellent place to eat, enjoy a delicious meal, and treat yourself to a truly enjoyable experience.

BISTRO D'EN FACE

21/09/2025: EDIT: Review of meal September 2023. New review coming soon - July 2024. After reading about Le Bistro d'en Face in Le Michellin guide we were excited to visit for dinner on the terrace overlooking the Dordogne river, and boy were we not disappointed! The food was excellent 👌,fresh ingredients, prepared simply but with panache. We both opted for the local delicacy of Canard de Foix Gras served with 2 variations of prune jus and a stick of homemade walnut bread. The Foix Gras was rich and buttery while the prune sauces balanced the dish with sweet sharpness. For my main course I opted for the smoked and grilled beef fillet, cooked medium rare to perfection with home cooked pomme frites, carrot puree, grilled spring onions and a creamy, savoury, borderlais type sauce. Dressed with pickled white mustard seeds it was a perfectly put together and well thought out plate. Well balanced, with no one component battling against the others. My companion chose the grilled turbot with samphire and lemon butter sauce served with a separate creamy pea rissoto and what looked like a parmesan crisp coloured with squid ink. The fish was cooked perfectly, delicate firm flesh with a beautiful light flavour. There is a reason the turbot is the king of fish! Well balanced fillet with a buttery, fatty edge meeting the crispy skin. Imagine salmon belly sashimi and you'll be close! The sauce was rich, sharp and complemented the fish well and the salty samphire balanced out the richness perfectly. Finally onto the last course. A selection of french cheeses was delivered to my side of the table, while a light and airy mousse au chocolat with a hazelnut crisp and strawberry sorbet was placed down opposite. The cheeses had clearly been left to breathe for a while as they were at the perfect temperature, creamy, soft and the clear winner was the goats cheese from the Pyranes, delicious! A close second was the firm, slightly golden cows milk cheese. I only tasted a small spoonful of my companions dessert, but what a spoonful....Rich, decedent and voluptuous. A chocolate lovers dream dessert. The house Rosé was better than average, somewhat let down by the plastic cooler sleeve. The food and the service were superb. A clear example of a restaurant with a small selection of dishes done to perfection. My only real criticisms were that we were expected to keep our cutlery for both our starter and main course. Why Le Bistro d'en Face???? This was disappointing for a restaurant with such a good reputation. Linen napkins and a fish knife for the turbot would have been nice additions, but not a necessity. All in all a great evening and highly recommended.
