Superb welcome, very good product

Beautiful pastries and a lovely shop, but the welcome was very cold. The pastries were a bit bland. I expected a bit more flavor given the reputation. Ultimately, you get the impression of eating fairly ordinary pastries that you'd find in any pastry shop, just average. We still respect the pastry chefs' work, though!

Having a particularly discerning palate, I must admit that carrot cake isn't usually my favorite dessert. However, the one I tasted today at Benoit Castel was a true revelation. A remarkably delicate texture, both moist and light, and above all, an explosion of flavors—like Bengal lights—that gently and precisely caress the palate. Each bite is balanced, subtle, almost poetic. An exceptional surprise. Thank you. Simply thank you.

It's good, but never, ever a smile... No matter who's behind the counter. It's a shame.
