Went for dinner with my husband and ordered the small tasting menu, expecting a true Michelin-level experience. Service was genuinely good, attentive and professional throughout. Unfortunately, the food didn’t match. There was no welcoming amuse-bouche to start, which felt like an odd omission for a starred restaurant, and portions left us still hungry after the full tasting menu, which was a first for us at this level of dining. The food itself felt more like what you’d get at a solid neighborhood restaurant rather than Michelin-caliber cooking or presentation.
We visited several other Michelin-starred and Michelin-recommended restaurants on this trip, and honestly found better food and better value elsewhere. Service was the one strong point, but disappointing overall given the reputation and price.

This is our third visit to this establishment, and each time we are delighted. The welcome is very pleasant, the place tastefully decorated. The quality, seasonal produce is skillfully prepared by the chef and his team, much to our delight. We had a wonderful time. 😊

We dined at Saint Placide for the first time last week, and what a wonderful discovery!
We opted for the tasting menu, and it was a resounding success. The setting is elegant, the service attentive, and the wine list superb.
The cuisine is exquisitely precise. The ingredients are enhanced without being overdone, allowing you to rediscover the flavors of each one. The combinations are original, perfectly balanced, and never overpowering.
Everyone at the table loved it. A week later, we still remember every single dish, which is quite rare and worth mentioning.
A truly wonderful restaurant that I wholeheartedly recommend. We will be back with great pleasure. Thank you for a lovely evening!

We had booked a table for two. We were very disappointed by this Michelin-starred restaurant, whose ambiance and cuisine were subpar. Initially, we received a warm welcome, enjoyed delicious amuse-bouches, and had a lovely, fresh starter of spider crab and celery. Unfortunately, the main course was meagerly served and a failure: a small, overcooked fillet of sea bass served with a bland broth and six thin slices of zucchini. The presentation was disappointing, as was the flavor. For dessert, my companion's rum baba was decent and well-presented, but my dessert was very stingy. We were still hungry when we left the table, which is unacceptable for the price we paid in such an establishment. The waitresses were pleasant and smiling. However, the manager was cold and stiff, offering us "thank you, madam, thank you, sir" each time she cleared our table, but never asking if we had enjoyed our meal. The final straw was when we signaled to the manager that we wanted to pay. She didn't even bother to bring the bill to our table but instead waited for us conspicuously behind her till, just like at the supermarket, and escorted us to the door without a word. It was icy. We won't be back.

We had an excellent meal—just the way we like to have it. The room is nicely decorated with well-chosen décor. The service by Isabelle Mobihan and the server was delightful—personable and knowledgeable. We were brought an amuse that was very good: a fresh sardine on toast with an onion pate and a tapenade. We like to share one entrée, one plat and one dessert. The server graciously said we could and so we looked at the à la carte menu. When didn’t see oysters from de la Famille Boutrais with Granité glacé au vieux Xérès, we asked if we could have some. Of course, our server said. The oysters were from Cancale and were of the size called “special’ (3€ each). They were delicious as was the granité. For our plat, we had the homard Breton cooked à la vapor in a lobster sauce with turmeric (curcuma). Chef Luc Mobihan cooked the lobster perfectly; it was sweet and, for us, split into two dishes. The sauce was extraordinary. At 15€ per kilo, it was affordable and the small one was a good size for us. For dessert, we had Le Baba with pineapple and pina colada and, of course, rhum. We were given two complete desserts and they were delicious (although Audre couldn’t finish hers). When the bill came and Dimitri saw that we had not been charged for the second dessert, he told Madame that we wanted to pay for it. We were “allowed” to pay for the two desserts so our total bill was 122€ and we left happy—we had had an extraordinary meal. There was parking for our car in front of the restaurant and that also made us very happy.

Ambitious cuisine with very interesting and tasty salty dishes. Only the desserts a bit dull and disappointing.
Very good service from the nice ladies. Comfortable seating and enough space to enjoy your food unlike many cramped places in France.
In general, worth visiting, maybe skip the desserts (although the menu is fixed so you’ll pay for them anyway).

I had the pleasure of dining alone at Saint-Placide and had a wonderful evening. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with great care and kindness, which is especially appreciated when dining solo.
The cuisine is exquisite, and certain dishes particularly stood out. The abalone was remarkably well-prepared, with perfect cooking and texture. The oyster with granita was also a delightful discovery, refreshing and subtle. As for the baba for dessert, it was simply excellent: indulgent, generous, and perfectly balanced.
I would also like to highlight the quality of the service, and in particular the expert advice of the sommelier, who was very professional and attentive, and who guided me perfectly in my wine selections.
If I had to mention one minor criticism, I personally found the John Dory slightly overcooked for my taste. However, this is a small detail considering the overall quality of the meal and the experience.
A truly wonderful gastronomic experience, both refined and welcoming. This Michelin star is richly deserved. I will gladly return on my next visit to Saint-Malo.

We had lunch at Restaurant Le Saint Placide yesterday as a family of three (two adults and one 10-year-old child), and from the moment we arrived we felt genuinely welcome.
All of us chose the small lunch menu. The amuse-bouche — lukewarm sardines on toasted bread with olives — was an excellent start, especially together with a glass of champagne.
The chilled zucchini and cucumber soup was fresh and full of flavor, and the Atlantic fish (Lieu Jaune de Ligne ) with peas was beautifully prepared. Dessert — a crispy Breton galette with ice cream and strawberries — was the perfect ending.
We were also very well advised on the wine selection and thoroughly enjoyed our choices.
A special thank you to Andrea for her warm and attentive service, as well as the wonderful insider tips about Saint-Malo.
The food, atmosphere, and service were excellent throughout. Outstanding value for money — we would happily return on our next visit to Saint-Malo.
