Saint-Séverin Church is one of the most beautiful hidden gems in Paris. Located in the heart of the Latin Quarter, this Gothic church is absolutely stunning, with magnificent stained-glass windows, elegant arches, and a peaceful atmosphere that offers a welcome escape from the busy streets outside. It is less crowded than many of Paris’s famous churches, allowing you to fully appreciate its architecture and history. A beautiful place to visit, whether you are interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a quiet moment in the city.

A beautiful church. From the outside, it doesn't look like much...

This was one of those discoveries that happen by chance. I was walking around the area when I saw this church kind of "hidden" among the buildings and decided to go in, without expecting much. It was a very pleasant surprise. The Gothic style is incredibly impressive. The interior is beautiful, with a huge ceiling, incredible stained glass windows, and an atmosphere that conveys a sense of peace and history at the same time. You'll want to spend a few minutes just admiring the architecture and details. If you're strolling near Notre-Dame and Shakespeare and Company, it's well worth making this little detour. It was one of the places that surprised me the most in Paris.

Magnificent, a marvel of architecture!

"Flamenco Gothic Architecture" The imposing façade of the Church of Saint-Séverin showcases the mastery of Flamboyant Gothic in the heart of the Latin Quarter. The detail of its bell tower and the tracery of the windows are living testaments to medieval Paris. An impeccable architectural marvel. The gargoyles of Saint-Séverin not only serve a drainage function but are also stone sentinels that have watched over the Latin Quarter for centuries. The preservation of these Gothic details is astonishing. A fascinating find inside Saint-Séverin: the plaque of Bertrand d'Ogeron, governor of Tortuga Island. It's incredible to see the 'Society of Buccaneers and Filibusters' mentioned in a Parisian church. Pure history. I loved the view from Rue Galande, where you can appreciate the full force of its Gothic architecture under the soft morning light. It's a corner that preserves the essence of old Paris, far from the tourist crowds and with a tranquility that invites you to pause. An architectural gem that deserves to be admired at leisure. After admiring the Church of Saint-Séverin, I stopped at the small cafes of the Latin Quarter. Watching people enjoying a coffee at the outdoor tables, surrounded by so much medieval history, is the true essence of Paris.

Sad to see the state of this ancient church. It is bad news of repairs but there are some real gems within. Totally worth a quick walk thru.
