We've been coming regularly for years, 7 or 8 years, I think... Always at lunchtime... on average 10 times a year. A warm welcome, a good selection of food, and very well-prepared meals. Same goes for the bill...✌

I've been several times already, and it's always great! The service is quick, the welcome and servers are friendly and open to conversation. The food is cooked to perfection and well-seasoned. The city center is easily accessible by public transport. The terrace on Place de la Comédie has a lovely setting, with street musicians adding to the atmosphere. One annoying thing, but not the restaurant's fault: there are far too many beggars who go around asking for anything and everything 🥲 In short, I highly recommend this restaurant ☀️

The service is very slow. We waited nearly 20-25 minutes to give our orders and the drinks came after 10 minutes. The atmosphere was good only because you could view the big place. To pay the same thing we went inside because the waiters were too busy speaking to each other than looking of people needed them.

We had a good time at Place de la Comédie. The service was quick, the waiter was very helpful, he deserved it, despite some very difficult customers who are never satisfied. The daily specials were made with fresh produce, and the prices were reasonable.

The hygiene needs improvement: dirty glasses, poorly cleaned spoons, and people smoking everywhere—it's annoying, even if it's a designated smoking area. Make a limit on smoking. Otherwise, the food and desserts are good, but not amazing. IMPROVE THE HYGIENE!

13/06/2026: We had dinner there as a couple during a stay in the area. It was a Saturday evening, we had a reservation, and the three-course meal (starter, main, dessert) with drinks cost around €120. This was within the advertised price range, the dishes were cooked quite well, the octopus was perhaps a touch overcooked, but overall, it was a very good experience. We left with smiles on our faces and no regrets. The service was friendly and welcoming; we had a lovely time.

02/07/2026: A must-visit when in Montpellier. Not only does this restaurant transport you back to the Belle Époque, respecting the period's traditions: uniformed staff, white tablecloths, and monogrammed tableware, but it also boasts excellent cuisine. From the aperitifs (an iced lemon-mint-ginger drink... a dream!) to the desserts, including the starters, main courses, and bread (served piping hot, fresh from the oven), everything was more than perfect. The portions are generous and the presentation is exquisite. And finally, the service! We were served by Tanguy, who regularly inquired about our satisfaction throughout our dinner, as did his colleagues. Everyone is exceptionally efficient and highly competent, and Tanguy perfectly embodies customer service, exactly what we expect when entering a restaurant: efficiency, competence, friendliness, and warmth. Café Riche truly lives up to its reputation, thanks to the quality of its staff as well as the excellence of its cuisine. If you're in Montpellier, you'll inevitably find yourself on Place de la Comédie, so you absolutely must sit down at one of their tables. Thank you to Tangguy and the entire team for this excellent dinner.
02/07/2026: Very well located and certainly one of the most beautiful terraces in France. Very professional service. The food is average but suited to the place, which is more geared towards having a drink.
