Les Alcyons sur Guethary

We read the reviews and, to be honest, were almost ready to turn around and leave. 😄 Long waits, bad service, chaos, overpriced… great! But: We can't confirm these experiences at all. It wasn't busy when we were there, the service was friendly, the food arrived quickly and was really very good. And then, of course, there's the location: right on the sea, with a magnificent view and a sunset that, on a beautiful evening, really doesn't need anything else. 🌅 Is everything perfect here? No. The restaurant is quite unconventional, the owner is too, and you don't necessarily get the feeling that there's a meticulously optimized restaurant concept behind it. 😉 Those who value perfect processes and a professional appearance might find that off-putting. But we found that more charming than bothersome. It has something imperfect, quirky, and authentic about it – and in the end, what matters to us is good food, friendly service, and that fantastic view. Maybe we just caught them on a good day. Perhaps some guests' expectations were a little too high. 😉 We, for our part, had a really lovely evening and would definitely come back.

The best in Guéthary! Top-notch welcome and service! Simple, high-quality, and unpretentious cuisine in one of the most beautiful settings in the Basque Country. The best clafoutis I've had since… I was born ;) We'll gladly be back!

Very friendly and with unbeatable views.

Location and flavor, nothing else matters. Update August 2026: After a year, we returned and it was a nasty surprise. The waiters were awful; it was like something out of a French comedy film. Three customers left without being served. A couple left without paying because they weren't served. I had to get up and pour my own water and cutlery. They kept sending duplicate orders, and desperate people kept saying, "It doesn't matter, it's fine by me." The food wasn't bad, but it was served completely cold due to the waiters' incompetence. It's a place with a hippie vibe, but that didn't matter last year because the waiters were on another level. I'm uploading photos. From 5 stars to 3.

August 10, 2026: A nice little restaurant (more like a beach hut, I'd say) in a great location facing the sea... if you booked the right table! A very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere... simple but good and decent food... reasonable prices. We're right by the sea! And in the small port of Guéthary! We had a reservation... Ophélie and Mathéo were there to serve us 👍

Simple, authentic, and exceptional. Morgan, Ophé, and MC are the best! 😘
