This is where you need to be. It is in the middle of the tourist hot spot but definitely not a tourist trap. You might need to consider staying in the cue to get in. It has local cuisine at very good prices.

Beautifully situated, friendly service. The Alsatian sauerkraut with meat was completely tasteless. The Kassler (smoked pork loin) and the coarse sausage were also very disappointing. However, the location is stunning, and the cognac for €8.50 was excellent!

This restaurant has a great location. The food is decent. The staff is friendly and polite. However, the service is very strange: they seem to enjoy making customers wait outside. The restaurant opens at 6:30 PM. I arrived at 6:40 PM. There was already a queue. I wondered if the restaurant hadn't opened yet, as no one was greeting customers at the entrance. I saw some customers at a table inside, while most of the other tables were empty, which struck me as odd. After four or five minutes, a waiter came and ushered in the customers closest to the door. I then realized that the restaurant was open, but that the service was incredibly slow. I've been to many restaurants where only one person greeted the customers. This one is undoubtedly the slowest. It seems the restaurant prefers to make people wait outside rather than offer them a seat. My husband and I dined here during our visit in 2005. At the time, we did not have this strange service.
