Les Capucins sur Aigues-Mortes

While on vacation in the area, we thought, "It's on the main square, it must be a tourist trap," but seeing the prices, we decided to give it a try. The ribeye steak was cooked as requested, but there was more fat than meat. The Caesar salad was tasteless, with pre-marinated chicken from a bag, probably like the kind you get at Metro. The chicken nuggets and fries for the kids were frozen. The bull stew was very good. The fries served with almost every dish were not good. They were soggy, not salty, and some had a greenish tint, like some unripe potatoes. The ingredients weren't high quality. However, the welcome and service were impeccable.

The rating was also surprising. A set menu of main course and dessert for €17.80 in Aigues-Mortes, on a lovely shaded square in front of the fountain, in the middle of August, with a tablecloth, a warm welcome, a small, unpretentious brasserie—the cheapest in town! How can anyone leave such unfair reviews? We got our money's worth, and with a smile.

Very quick and pleasant service. Due to a major lack of organization, we received our aperitifs in the middle of the meal... As for the food, it wasn't extraordinary; the wood-fired sea bass was a bit burnt, and the two grilled cuttlefish were barely cooked.

Based on the reviews, I was expecting a "shabby" place, but I was pleasantly surprised by the waiters and waitresses, who went out of their way to provide excellent service. The daily special was very good. I recommend it.

The twins gave us an impeccable welcome, the staff were pleasant, and the food was delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal!

The meal was generally good, and the ingredients seemed to be of high quality. The mussels were very good, as were the pasta dishes. However, the homemade fries were a bit of a disappointment: they didn't seem to have been made that day and lacked freshness, with the cooking time being slightly higher. The aperitif and the wine ordered to accompany the meal were served at the same time, which was a shame. There was also a bit of a wait at the beginning of the meal, but the restaurant kindly offered us a complimentary digestif, which was appreciated. A big thank you to our waitress, who was truly very kind, smiling, pleasant, and attentive throughout the meal. Her professionalism and warm welcome made the experience more enjoyable.
