L’Essentiel sur Saint-Jean-De-Luz

Arriving at almost 9:30 pm, we were expecting to be turned away, but it was quite the opposite! We were seated very well and received a warm welcome! The dishes were presented with gourmet flair and were excellent!! A delight from the aperitif, served with delicious little amuse-bouches, to the equally delicious and refined main courses! A place we highly recommend! The young chef is simply perfect!! The service was also perfect!

We had an excellent time at L'Essentiel; the lobster pariada, the Pavlova, the service—everything was perfect. The terrace was very pleasant. We felt comfortable and had some distance from the other diners.

What an amazing experience - relatively cheap and cheerful but the food is seriously on point. My girl got the sole muniere and it was perhaps the best I've had and I had the beef a point and was delish. After a week in Biarritz this place does not disappoint. Great deserts as well. Very friendly and professional service - if you are in town you must stop by for an amazing dinner would highly recommend you won't be disappointed!

A cuisine with expertly prepared dishes worthy of a top chef. A very pleasant and professional team in the dining room, mostly on the terrace. I loved their sweetbreads with pan-seared foie gras and the roast pigeon. The Corsican wine pairing from Clos Venturi perfectly complemented this dinner, fully satisfying our palates. A must-try again...

A fabulous lunch. There is a menu (with fish of the day), and the menu. Everything is exquisite. I recommend the turbot (very fine and with Ratatouille just like the one in the movie!!)

We had lunch at L’Essentiel and it was simply delicious! We chose the set menu with a main course and dessert. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth tender, the ratatouille was absolutely delicious, and the portion was very generous; we mopped up every last drop. The dessert was by far the best floating island I've ever had. I'll be thinking about it for a long time to come. The caramelized sugar on top, like crème brûlée, the perfectly vanilla-flavored custard, the caramel—everything was just perfect. The service was just as perfect as the food; the servers were smiling, cheerful, and pleasant. In short, we had a wonderful time.
