L'Express Bar Chez Assunta sur Aigues-Mortes

08/08/2026: While on vacation in the area, we thought, "It's on the main square, it must be a tourist trap," but seeing the prices, we decided to give it a try. The ribeye steak was cooked as requested, but there was more fat than meat. The Caesar salad was tasteless, with pre-marinated chicken from a bag, probably like the kind you get at Metro. The chicken nuggets and fries for the kids were frozen. The bull stew was very good. The fries served with almost every dish were not good. They were soggy, not salty, and some had a greenish tint, like some unripe potatoes. The ingredients weren't high quality. However, the welcome and service were impeccable.

06/08/2026: The rating was also surprising. A set menu of main course and dessert for €17.80 in Aigues-Mortes, on a lovely shaded square in front of the fountain, in the middle of August, with a tablecloth, a warm welcome, a small, unpretentious brasserie—the cheapest in town! How can anyone leave such unfair reviews? We got our money's worth, and with a smile.
