I had a wonderful lunch at L'Ostal! The owner (I think) played guitar and let me go upstairs, which was off-limits to the public 🥰🙏 It was a lovely moment, the decor is fantastic, and we had a view of the walls of the Château Comtal! We got a table even without a reservation.

We chanced upon this restaurant and were very happily surprised by its little courtyard and the interior. It's a stone building bursting the character. We chose the fixed 25 euro menu and we were very delighted to see our steaks cooked in front of us on the open fire. The portions were generous and tasty and whilst we ate we were serenaded by a guitar player who was excellent.
The service was a bit slow and there weren't many smiles - but I put that down to end of season tiredness.

A lovely, friendly place with delicious food cooked over a wood fire right before your eyes. The decor is very unique, and we had lunch accompanied by a troubadour who played his guitar and sang Spanish songs... I highly recommend it. Good value for money.

The food was excellent and the service was top-notch. Unlike other restaurants that don't seem to understand gluten and celiac disease, this one does. We would definitely be back! The onion soup and the cassoulet, among other dishes, are highly recommended.

What a hidden gem this is! You would not notice it was there but for the menu on the main street. This is a beautiful cosy 13th/15th Century period venue. Served by very pleasant and capable staff.
Our steaks were cooked on an open fire in front of our very eyes whilst a very talented guitarist played wonderful music during our meal!
Please take the time to eat at this venue it was absolutely splendid and a meal we will not soon forget!

We stumbled upon this very unusual and well-hidden little restaurant!
But what a delight! You can tell that everything you eat is prepared with care. The interior decor is simply incredible and truly immerses you in a medieval atmosphere.
We were even treated to a short concert by a singer and his guitar ☺️.
Furthermore, while chatting with the owner, we learned that this restaurant is one of the oldest in the city of Carcassonne. So don't expect fancy design or anything superficial, but rather something authentic and local. We highly recommend it!
