03/07/2024: An unassuming entrance takes you down stairs to a cellar restaurant. Resist the temptation to run away at the slightly 70s decor. Your perseverance will be amply rewarded. Sit down and enjoy. I loved that the chef personally comes to your table to take your order. Others sort the drinks and do the deliveries to the table. But the chef wants to understand exactly your preferences. We had mussels with razor clams; the fish soup (don’t miss out on this) and then to follow: monkfish wrapped in prosciutto and sole. All cooked to perfection and very reasonably priced. The house wine is worth a try and they have a pretty good cellar of bottled choices.

29/06/2024: This is our third time in Carcassonne and our fourth time at Restaurant Gil. I think it is the best Plateau de fruits de mer on the Canal du Midi. We had a great meal as usual. As we stayed in port the following day because heavy rain was forecast we went back for fish and chips at lunch time as well. At €16 this was very good.

10/07/2024: They organized my 30th birthday meal in this restaurant. Everything was truly perfect for this special day; the food, the service, the wine and above all the view of the city walls! The person who chose this place had the most beautiful idea to mark the occasion to celebrate the first 30 years of a life 😍. Highly recommend if you are looking to have lunch or have a family event!

19/07/2024: A very welcoming team, an impressive variety of cakes. Even as an alpha male, I loved the experience. (mini hiccup for the coffee which I personally didn’t like, but the rest is excellent!)

16/07/2024: The place is crazy decorated and the atmosphere is incredible. Eating cakes in the middle of this tea room worthy of a fairy tale or Victorian fantasy makes the experience even more fun and delicious. The desserts are attractive and tasty. We had a pleasant time.

29/06/2024: Excellent I took the cheapest pizza and it was very good (it's a detail but it means a lot) we left the pizzeria full and very happy the asparagus cream was very good served with toast really too hard....well, not everyone has the right equipment 😁. The pizzeria is very clean 👌 the welcome nothing to say. I recommend the place, several of us came, everyone agreed it was very good.

29/06/2024: This is an unexpected delight in the heart of the medieval city of Carcassonne. We made last minute reservations and relied on the very kind staff for recommendations on plats, wine, and dessert. They didn’t steer us wrong. The cassoulet is exceptional. The wine recommendation was perfect with the plats we ordered. And, dessert was delightful. I would return to Carcassonne for this dining experience - it was truly delightful from start to finish.

28/06/2024: When I travel to Carcassonne, I always stop by La Marquière, so this is not the first time. Some things are attributable to the restaurant owner, others in no way. Having a corked bottle is part of the 2nd category, but... When we arrived at 8:00 p.m. only one table was occupied on the terrace. I order an aperitif (white wine) and ravioli, my wife: fish. There is no Burgundy on the menu (the boss tells me he doesn't know how to get any!!), I order a beautiful Bordeaux (+/- €100). As the aperitif ends, the ravioli arrive a little too early. The owner decanters the wine while my dish is already in front of me, he serves it and leaves. The wine is corked. I have to get up to go tell him. He agrees with me. He prefers that I change wine under the pretext of returning the case he has. I have to make another choice, in the meantime I have already eaten a third of my ravioli which is getting cold. He decanters the second bottle: it's even worse. We have to change again and we return to my first choice. This time the wine is good. YES, but I still have 3 ravioli to eat. My wife's fish is overcooked. I have no choice but to take a cheese platter to finish my wine. It is while eating the cheese that a new problem arises, at this time, there are 6 people on the terrace. The owner realizes that he will no longer have any other customers and begins to serve the unoccupied tables with a BIG noise (by throwing the cutlery onto a serving platter). The moment of the note arrives. A small gesture depending on the inconvenience? no, nothing, schnoll, broquette… I'll let you be the judge.

15/06/2024: Hello! Restaurant on the outskirts of Carcassonne 100% recommended. We went as a family to eat here before leaving Carcassonne because of the good reviews and it was a great success. Abundant, elaborate and homemade dishes. Everything was very delicious and the dessert (Pavlova) was spectacular. Free parking in front. Price, two menus and one for children, €55. Without a doubt, when we return to this city we will repeat at this restaurant.

22/06/2024: We were pleasantly surprised by this small, discreet restaurant where we were very well received. My husband and I ate very well (warm goat's cheese salad, squid for the gentleman and lentil pancake for the lady). For dessert, a delicious homemade lemon tart 😋 in a rather calm atmosphere. We can eat on the terrace or inside like us. To redo

30/06/2024: Un accueil aimable sans être empressé, une cuisine de qualité, un choix de vin raisonnable, que du bonheur pour cette première expérience ! Du coup, nous y sommes retournés le lendemain pour déjeuner , c'était toujours aussi bon. Et le spectacle est aussi dans la cheminée !

23/06/2024: Trop trops contents. Excellente cuisine : produits du terroir, saveurs et originalité (par ex le sorbet au cabecou). Excellent rapport qualité prix ! A conseiller absolument !

28/06/2024: The value for money at this restaurant is almost unbelievable; we would have happily paid double for the starter, main course and lunchtime dessert formula, which was absolutely delicious. We had lunch in the interior courtyard which is charming and far from the crowds. And what's more, the staff are absolutely charming.

20/07/2024: Let yourself be surprised by this place. The restaurant is excellent. Everything is homemade at a more than reasonable price. A pleasant little corner with a beautiful terrace and very welcoming staff. Thanks to the whole team. We came to Carcassonne for a few days and we will keep good memories of it.

20/07/2024: Very warm restaurant and setting, very smiling and welcoming staff. Grilled meat and fish cooked over a wood fire, it was excellent!! I recommend this restaurant to have a pleasant time enjoying a good meal.

24/07/2024: Very nice address in Carcassonne, we tasted an EXCELLENT homemade cassoulet in a simple and very friendly atmosphere. The accompanying wine was very good and the desserts very popular! Perfect evening, we recommend!

20/07/2024: We had a reservation and chose the restaurant because there is a sign clearly stating that the restaurant is air conditioned. The air conditioning wasn't on and it was hot inside, so we were shown to a table on the patio. The atmosphere is really lacking on the terrace because it was very dark and we felt closed in. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke and sure enough, a smoker was sitting right next to us. We had to ask to be moved inside and it wasn't really great but there was no air conditioning. The food was ok but the foie gras was strange with layers of sausage which added nothing to the taste but made it harder to eat. No bread was served with the cheese dish but the waiters were busy getting people out for the start of a concert. We've now given this restaurant two chances to impress, but I guess that won't happen for us. RESPONSE to the owner: It is strange that you do not mention the lack of air conditioning in your comments. I will always have a smile on my face and I will make the best of any situation. I rated your restaurant 3 stars, which is right in the middle. I never said the food was terrible, but the foie gras was a little different from what I've experienced and I'm not used to having to cut it with a knife to eat it.

02/04/2024: We have been going there once a month for a year. The welcome is sincerely pleasant, the chef's recipes are always super fresh and delicately composed. The desserts are the height of indulgence. We are happy to have discovered them.
