27/04/2026: As a one star Michelin restaurant you can expect exquisite food, atmosphere and service. The latter two fall short unfortunately for me. The meal was centered around an opening dish amose-bouch that had several ingredients introduce and a sort of guessing game unfolded trying to identify what you were eating and what components from the amuse-bouch. While fun at first, tasty novel and unexpected it became distracting. The waitresses make the obvious funny disclosure of this not being a quiz but it unfortunately kept falling onto that. With each dish of the10-15 course meal you are presented an nuanced interesting meal but then on their return to collect the dish they sit there and wait for your interpretation and estimation of what ingredients were present. It distracted from the food itself and instead made you so focused on trying to get this done well. It got a bit tiresome and did not have a relaxing feel. It was as though we were being studied and under examination. I loved the creativity of the plates especially the broken dishes form the fire in 2016 but again this became forgotten because it felt we were forced to prepare for our exam at the end of each dish. Just not a natural dinning experience. My other quams with the restaurant were the service and atmosphere. We had a nice sake with the dinner but afterwards wanted a cocktail to which we were told they didn’t really serve cocktails. I had asked openly what they could make and the waitress in charge of drinks said they didn’t have much- despite the entrance back wall being lined with Japanese whisky and other liquors. We did have a nice yuzu liquor with desert but I was still disappointed and would have enjoyed a cocktail during the meal. When going to the bathroom there was no toilet paper which I had no issue with and I couldn’t find any so asked a waitress if she could help. She asked that I wait outside the bathroom for her to prepare it. As she left I went on my phone and without instructing me she was done i then later saw her return to waiting tables and carrying dishes. Was left a bit in the dark whether the bathroom was done. The atmosphere is similar to restaurants I’ve been to in Japan very minimal and natural woods however for the price point and Michelin star designation I would’ve expected better facilities and customer service. Likely will not return when back in Paris.
22/04/2026: Insane experience. Crazy good food. Lovely service! I’ve been wanting to visit this place for a while, and it absolutely did not disappoint. My girlfriend and I booked the “cave” experience. Upon arrival, you’re led downstairs into a cave-like space where you even take off your shoes and switch into slippers, kind of like entering a Japanese home. Such a unique and immersive touch. The food was incredible from start to finish. As you go through the courses, there are subtle Japanese influenced ingredients and flavors that reveal themselves in a really thoughtful way. What surprised me even more was the wine pairing: a mix of whites and sakes that worked beautifully🍷🍶 Overall, 10/10 experience!! Oh a heads up, no WiFi or cell service down there🤣
