It was a McDonald's.
But somehow, McDonald's in France and cleanliness don't mix. It was lunchtime, and it was busy.
That's no excuse for the dingy restrooms and overflowing trash cans.
At least the food arrived quickly and was hot, and the great thing about France is the reusable cups and "chip bags"—there's no citizen's list, just a bit of paper wrapped around it.
You can stop here right off the A7 southbound if the wait at the rest stop is too long.

So yes, it's McDonald's... it's fine when you're in a hurry and want to get something quick, but honestly, I appreciated the manager's gesture. She did her best to find a solution and allow my daughter to have dinner. They were missing some ingredients for a Caesar salad and couldn't offer it anymore. They adapted by offering us a less elaborate salad, but at least the gesture was there. THANK YOU 😊.

Personally, I like this McDonald's. There are two in Villefranche-sur-Saône. This one has a large free parking lot
with a gas station, conveniently located near the highway to Lyon. The staff is friendly and attentive; they bring your order to your table, and it's the usual fare. There's always a table available. In the evening, it's quiet with some background music, and after 8 p.m., I come with my laptop to work a bit and enjoy my coffee in peace. The only downside is that the sink in the men's accessible restroom needs fixing. In short, I wholeheartedly recommend this place, this restaurant.

It is not a clean place. Toilet filthy and the floors too.
Order went wrong and it was a bit cold.
The staff was nice though.

I have eaten here several times and you are served quite quickly only at the Drive, for on-site consumption you wait like in a traditional restaurant, it is no longer fast food.
