Meert Restaurant sur Lille

A very nice cafe with delicious cakes and coffee. However, it's expensive and if you're unlucky, you might have to wait.

The most beautiful shop in all of Lille with such history! The famous thing to do is get the vanilla filled waffle, it is 3 euros and yummy. Come on. A weekday afternoon and there’s no one. They have a smaller tea shop with prices ranging 9 euros for a small bag of loose leaf tea to over 25 euros for a tin. But the packaging is really gorgeous. A bar of packaged chocolate was about 9 to 14 euros. Even if you don’t intend to purchase anything it worth visiting just to see, really such a stunning shop I went multiple times. Staff are very friendly even if you don’t speak French. There is a tea room at the back for desserts and tea but I did not visit it. That did seem to have a line even on weekday afternoons.

Honestly, having tried all the best pastry shops in Lille, no one can hold a candle to Méert. No matter the time of year, the pastries are always fresh daily and exceptionally refined. The staff is incredibly attentive, and every detail is meticulously attended to, right down to the packaging. Go without hesitation, regardless of the price.

Our little haven for a getaway, always a warm welcome even if it requires a bit of patience. The value for money is excellent; although the name might seem a little daunting, it's really not. So many wonderful moments at the tea room! See you soon!

Perfect lunch spot, the welcome is very warm and refined, befitting the setting. The fish is cooked to perfection. The dishes are generous and delicious. Reasonable prices considering the quality. Thank you to Melissa for her smile and professionalism.

Lille's iconic institution, my first time in northern France, with kind, friendly people. At Maison Méert you can find coffee, tea, and of course, chocolate. Breakfast is available there! We thoroughly enjoyed the Gouffres 🫶🏽♥️

Very beautiful, but the food could be improved.

It’s hard not to be impressed by Méert. The building is absolutely beautiful, and stepping inside feels like an experience in itself. Certainly somewhere I’d recommend visiting while in Lille. The shop is split into two sides, one more focused on their famous waffles and the other on ice creams and other treats, with the lovely historic tea room tucked away through the middle. We stopped for drinks and cakes, and it’s a wonderful setting to enjoy something sweet. I’d particularly recommend the tasting plate of miniature desserts. Afterwards, we picked up a few flavours of their famous waffles. Everything was beautifully presented. My only real criticism is that the service doesn’t quite live up to the surroundings or premium prices. It was generally good in the tea room, although getting someone’s attention for the bill took a while. The shop staff were a little flat and transactional. Nothing terrible, but I expected a little more warmth and attentiveness. Another odd choice was the reliance on QR code menus. Paper menus were available, but staff defaulted to directing us online. I’ve nothing against QR codes when they offer useful extras, but here it felt a little cheap and out of keeping with the historic setting. I’d also avoid the chai latte. Beautifully presented, but it tasted of little more than warm milk. Queues can get quite long, so I’d recommend visiting at a quieter time if possible. Overall, Méert is absolutely worth experiencing. The setting is stunning, the cakes and waffles are lovely, I just wish the service had a little more of the charm and character that the building has in abundance.

It's a real shame they changed the lemon tart recipe; even though this one is good, the other one was definitely better. Now, it's just a matter of taste.
