Wonderful meal this evening. The mackerel starter was especially great - perfect combination of sharp and fresh flavours. Lovely wine, great recommendation from the owner (+ local vineyards to visit).

Mitch in Aix-en-Provence is a place I discovered by chance during my trip to Southern France. The reservation process was a bit unusual; I was told they only accept reservations by phone and not online. Since I was hesitant about speaking French, I asked a staff member at hotel check-in to make the reservation for me, and they kindly booked it for me, making the trip much easier. As a small restaurant with limited tables, the space itself felt cozy and calm. We ate on the terrace, and the atmosphere was truly wonderful as we enjoyed our meal while breathing in the fresh air. Four adults had dinner there, and we ordered lamb and fish dishes for the main courses. The lamb was cooked perfectly, and the fish was presented neatly as well. Even the strawberries served for dessert were fresh, making for a satisfying finish to the course. The wine we paired with the meal was Domaine Jean Royer, Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2022. Perhaps because it is a wine from the Rhône region of Southern France, it paired exceptionally well with the food. A place I went in without high expectations, but left feeling pleasantly satisfied… If you are planning to visit Aix-en-Provence, it would be a good idea to check the reservation method in advance.
