A legendary Valenciennes establishment since 1848, Maison Nivon in the city center could use a larger dining area. The cakes are excellent and the service is perfect.

It's a real shame. I like this store, but it's like playing the lottery. It all depends on who you get. One day it goes very well, with the gentlemen welcoming you enthusiastically. Then the next day, the young ladies prefer to chat amongst themselves and make you wait...

I'm only giving 4 stars. Please bring back the hot sandwiches, they're so good, and update your drive-thru signs. Otherwise, the service is still great and friendly.

Excellent place. During an unexpected stop, we had sandwiches with a line of bread and a St Génies cheese: a delight for the palate.

A little disappointed by this bakery. Only the pognes (a type of brioche) are still good, and the nougat pogne; I don't like the Swiss pastries or the Saint-Genix pastries there. But that's just my personal opinion, to each their own. A plus for the friendly staff. Unfortunately, it has lost much of its former glory. A shame...

Wonderful bakery, welcoming service, the owner is warm and very friendly. Reasonable prices for such good quality (ps: the cookies could be slightly less cooked and they would be perfect).

24/06/2026: A very pleasant surprise since the change of ownership! ✨ We recently visited and the place has clearly been revitalized. The atmosphere is warmer and more welcoming, perfect for spending quality time with friends or simply enjoying a drink. Even though they don't yet offer food, you can already sense a genuine desire to do things right: the service was excellent. A promising spot that deserves to be rediscovered now… and we can't wait to see how it develops! 👏 We highly recommend it for a pleasant time over a drink!
