This is my second visit. There's something for everyone, a great way to bring everyone together at the table. The staff are lovely and patient in explaining the dishes (I'm not from the area at all). It's a place with a wonderful, warm atmosphere. It's a well-known and popular spot, so I recommend making a reservation just to be safe.

As a regular at Retro, I booked a table on Sunday for mussels and fries with my family. There were seven of us. I did a quick poll to make sure everyone would order them. And I called back to confirm seven mussels and fries. A gentleman told me, "I'll pass it on." Clearly, he didn't! When we arrived at our table on Sunday, it said we'd only had four mussels... We sorted it out amongst ourselves, and it was still okay. But I was a little disappointed! There was a match on Saturday. It's true that those evenings are memorable, even when you lose, lol.

I've changed my mind. I ate there for three days as part of a training course, and it was very good; the menus have changed in terms of both quantity and quality. It's a place I'll keep in mind.

Passing through the mining region in search of a unique bistro, we walked into this establishment: a warm welcome, exemplary responsiveness, and attentive, smiling servers. After a superb meal, it's hard to find a single negative point... and I know what I'm talking about! Go without hesitation, but save me a seat!

I was driving through Place du Quentin looking for a restaurant. I glanced in the rearview mirror and spotted a neon sign that read "Le Rétro." Talk about a sign of destiny! A few minutes later, I was seated at a table enjoying a Flemish carbonnade, while my wife was having a Caesar salad. While my sweetheart sneakily stole some fries, I took stock of the situation. Le Rétro offers easy parking, a warm welcome, a very pleasant atmosphere, and good food. My wife, taking advantage of my distraction, stole a few more fries. I wasn't about to let her get away with it and decided to deny her dessert. Lastly, the bill was very reasonable considering the quality/price ratio. In short, I had a great evening, but with fewer fries than expected, so a word of advice: go there single. Just one drawback: the Irish Coffee... It's perfect. The result? A sudden addiction and an obligation to return soon. As if I needed that! Thank you to the whole team. See you soon. P.S.: I'm not attaching any photos; it's unnecessary. When you are at Place du Quentin, open your window and follow the delicious smell of cooking.

29/09/2026: We had a wonderful time. I highly recommend it. From the welcome to the service, everything was perfect. And the meat was incredibly tender!
27/09/2026: Following a sporting event, we went to this restaurant on a Sunday at lunchtime after checking its overall rating… and it was well deserved! Our table was set up on the outdoor terrace since the weather was sunny and still summery, but the owner was kind enough to ask if that was alright with us. A high chair was offered for a young child and a booster seat for a slightly older one, and the parasols were adjusted—perfect! Once we were seated and the menus were handed out, the owner literally explained the origin of the poultry, the fresh produce, the fact that 98% of the menu items are homemade (except for the ice cream and donuts), and the fact that they work with local suppliers—we approve! Half of our group was there just for a drink, but, charmed by the menu, the ladies all stayed to eat with us! Upon arrival of the dishes, it was immediately clear that the quality was excellent. The promise was fulfilled, and we devoured every last bite (I chose the quarter of grilled yellow chicken with thyme, a true delight). The waiter even checked during our meal to ensure we were satisfied and if we needed anything else. Then came the desserts, and the same was true – no one was disappointed (French toast-style brioche, vanilla ice cream, salted caramel: very good and well-balanced). The bill came to under €80 for two adult meals and one child's meal, including a small (and well-deserved) tip. We will gladly return to your restaurant if we are ever back in the Lens area. Please don't change a thing; it was perfect for us.
