My partner and I have been coming to this restaurant three or four times a year for about eight years.
The chef, the kitchen staff, and the waitstaff are all serious, attentive, and always happy to offer advice.
The dishes are not only delicious and varied but also exotic. We have never been disappointed. The chef also takes the time to talk to you, describe his dishes, and answer questions. I have rarely seen that in a restaurant.
Our most recent outing was for Valentine's Day 2026. We enjoyed a succession of delicious dishes, as pleasing to the palate as they were to the eye. Saka saka lasagna, scallops, sea bass, Salers beef, and a millet dessert. As someone who doesn't eat fish or red meat due to a lack of taste, I was surprised to find these dishes succulent and consistently delightful (the chef knows how to play with the textures of each ingredient).
The restaurant was packed, and the servers were sometimes a little overwhelmed, but they were always helpful and kind, and the chef once again took the time to chat.
Truly one of the very best restaurants in Lyon for its warm atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly staff.

If I had to sum up my experience at Petit Ogre in one word, I would say: ineffable.
It's impossible for me to describe what I felt, having both my mother's African heritage and my father's European one.
Seeing dishes that were visually European, yet with touches and flavors reminiscent of certain African cuisines, deeply moved me. Every bite, especially the lasagna appetizer and the sea bream, brought back childhood memories and made me think of my mother. So, it's a resounding 5 out of 5 from me, along with my congratulations and best wishes to the chef.

A fantastic discovery for couples! The Discovery Menu is a real success. We loved the fusion approach that blends the codes of French cuisine with very refined African touches. It's surprising, full of flavor, and perfectly executed. The service is just as warm. If you're looking for cuisine with character and soul, go for it!

We've been to Le Petit Ogre several times now, and we've never been disappointed.
The cuisine, subtly enhanced with African influences, offers absolutely splendid and perfectly executed flavors. The menu changes seasonally, making each visit unique and a real pleasure to return for.
The €45 menu is particularly appealing: in addition to the main courses, several interludes punctuate the meal and enrich the experience.
A truly wonderful restaurant that I highly recommend.

Another excellent experience at Petit Ogre, where a simple butternut squash soup transports you... A very warm welcome and excellent service (quick and efficient).
The only slight drawback is the seating; a victim of its own success, seats are limited, so be prepared for close quarters :-)

What a pleasant surprise! Not far from the Part-Dieu train station, this restaurant offers bold, flavorful, and indulgent cuisine. The chef is originally from Mauritania. Just looking at the menu, you want to try everything! The dishes don't disappoint; the presentation is impeccable, and each bite is an explosion of taste. Add to that attentive and friendly service—all the ingredients for success!
