A very varied and original menu, good value for money, and excellent service. I'll definitely be back, thank you!

Although the main course (tuna with lentils and a red wine reduction) was tasty, it wasn't anything extraordinary. The vegetable cocotte was very cold, and the tuna wrap appetizer was awful. The service was very good, though.

A real treat at Aux Plumes! Fresh and delicious food. Special mention for the starter and the vegetable casserole, which really impressed me 😍. A place I'll definitely be back to!

The chef's cuisine is excellent; he does almost all the prep work himself, and the wait staff is cheerful.

Fresh, seasonal cuisine, perfect for a weekday lunch! Excellent flavor combinations and a quality wine list.
The dishes are refined and very reasonably priced.
Highly recommended!

📍 Dining in Europe - Part 23
Paris is now so crowded with tourists that finding a truly satisfying restaurant isn't easy. You have to avoid tourist areas, and even venture outside the central districts to discover places that offer good value for money.
The modern French restaurant (Bib Gourmand) in Montparnasse - 14th arrondissement, shown below, is a prime example. They offer one of the best set lunches I've ever encountered in Paris: a 3-course appetizer + 1 main course + a vegetable cocotte for only 22 euros. No wonder it's packed with locals, mostly office workers.
The menu here, under the skillful hands of a young Japanese chef, is a fusion of many cultures hidden within the "soul" of French cuisine, and it changes daily – basically, whatever delicious food the chef finds at the market in the morning, you get to eat at lunchtime 😄 For example, appetizers might include creamy corn soup with yuzu emulsion or cocoa chestnut soup, or rougail (a spicy tomato sauce stew originating from Réunion Island) served with pilaf (rice cooked with Middle Eastern/Indian spices). Main courses could be sea bream fillet drizzled with smoked paprika sauce and blésotto (wheat risotto) with tapenade sauce, or pan-seared turkey slices in the Saltimbocca style (Italian) but using red wine sauce instead of the traditional white wine. Desserts (outside of the set menu) will also be a harmonious and carefully crafted combination of Asian and European cuisine, such as blancmange (French almond pudding) with tropical fruit and coconut milk.
The restaurant's location is far from the city center but very close to the Catacombs – a famous "adventure tourism" spot in Paris (currently under restoration, expected to reopen in spring 2026), and a convenient and free "hidden gem": the Museum of the Liberation of Paris, which I mentioned in my article about 50+ free activities you shouldn't miss in Paris. Not far away is the Montparnasse Tower – one of the best places to admire the Eiffel Tower and Paris at night from above, as well as the 13th arrondissement famous for Butte-aux-Cailles and Vietnamese restaurants.
In short, Michelin, both in France and Paris, may sometimes miss out, but for the most part, it's a hit.

Freshly prepared dishes (open kitchen).
Small dining room. Really too noisy; the tables are crammed together.

Visited on Saturday for dinner after walking past this restaurant so many times and so glad we did. The cooking is simple yet sophisticated. My duck was cooked to perfection with its crispy skin and tender flesh. The sauce was so delicious I asked for extra bread to mop it up. Service was great, the new Japanese server in particular had all the wonderful politeness and friendliness, embodying the spirit of omotenashi right in the heart of 14eme.
If you’re reading this review trying to decide if it’s worth going, I’d say do be sure to have a reservation as this spot is popular.

What a wonderful culinary discovery, so subtle and delicious!
A warm welcome and helpful advice. However, the space is small and the noise level rises quickly!
