Refuge du Tornieux sur Sallanches

A beautiful and charming place, with excellent staff. We had a wonderful meal by the fireplace. Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Refuge du Tornieux in Sallanches for a weekend, including one night and dinner. We were so impressed that we also had lunch there the next day and tried the toboggan run! Our experience was more than positive from beginning to end! We hiked up the ungroomed trail, which was magnificent and very well marked! The comments about it are quite amusing; frankly, it only took a little common sense to distinguish between a groomed trail and a snowshoe trail. I don't understand some of the comments about it: everything was clearly marked (taking the time to read the signs can be helpful...) and we had no trouble finding our way; you just need a little common sense. 😬 As for the refuge itself: we absolutely loved it! The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and truly delightful. We came with our little dog 🐶 who was warmly welcomed, which was a real bonus for us. As for the food, we ate exceptionally well, both in the evening and at lunchtime the following day. The dishes were delicious and generous. In short: everything went wonderfully, it was fantastic! We highly recommend it and will definitely be back!!

A fantastic family experience. A lovely hike up at sunset. We were welcomed at a superb mountain refuge, the meal was delicious, especially the porcini mushroom fondue... and the toboggan run is definitely worth doing. Be warned, the hike up isn't for everyone. Allow 2 hours for the walk, even if you take it slow. As for the toboggan run... I'm not flexible enough to stay upright on it, but it was amazing. A 4km toboggan run was a first for me! The refuge was excellent, with a great atmosphere, very clean, and superb service... nothing to complain about! Well done to the whole team!

A very comfortable mountain refuge that has retained its authentic charm. The staff are welcoming and attentive. The owner is passionate and enthusiastically shares the history of the refuge. Excellent fondue. Good value for money. Perfect conditions with over 2 meters of snow outside. Magical!

An incredible experience at the Refuge du Tornieux! What a pleasure to enjoy a delicious porcini mushroom fondue after the hike to the refuge and then sledding back down 🛷. A return to childhood, and we couldn't be happier! Thank you to the whole team for this timeless moment! 😍

Excellent service in a beautiful mountain refuge facing a magnificent panorama.

A superb experience at the Tornieux refuge: a 1.5-hour hike to get there (I recommend taking the footpath rather than the track), a delicious meal in a beautifully decorated refuge with a fireplace, and a toboggan run down the groomed track – an unmissable experience! I highly recommend it!

A magical atmosphere both in winter, with the return trip by toboggan, and in summer on foot!!
